Found March 31, 2009 on The Evil Empire:
According to Pete Caldera the Yankees have optioned Alfredo Aceves and Dan Giese Scranton. And Brett Tomko was reassigned to the minor-league camp, he'll also be at Scranton.

"I'm extremely disappointed because I felt like I pitched my way onto this team," Tomko said.

They both pitched very well, Tomko went 1-1 with a 1.17 ERA. In 15.1 IP he allowed 2 earned runs on 12 hits, walked two, and struck out 12. and Albaladejo had a 0.93 ERA in 9.2 IP, and allowed 1 run on 8 hits, walked 1 and struck out 8.

THOUGHTS FROM A DIE-HARD YANKEES FAN:

Ever since Jonathan Albaladejo came over to the Yankees he's pitched good enough to be on the team. Unfortunately for him he got hit it with the injury bug. It's not all about spring taining stats although Tomko pitched great, too. Apparently Girardi feels that combination of Albaladejo and Phil Coke will do the job in the long relief role.

Tomko shouldn't keep his hopes up. 09 is a long season.

Now all that's left is the utility job. I'm guessing they'll go with Berroa since he's more experienced and Pena has not even reached AAA yet. I'd rather see Ramiro make the team though because he's a better defender. Berroa has the better bat but I'm afraid he'll turn into Betemit pt 2. This is a tough one.

Yankees Should Make a Change Concerning Joba in Their Rotation

Tis is a piece about Joba’s spot in the rotation - but it is not what you think. I wrote a piece yesterday about the Yankees finishing off their pitching staff by adding Jonathan Albaladejo and not carrying a long reliever/spot starter. I am not fond of the long reliever thing, especially for the 2009 Yankees, who [...]

Yankee Roster Almost Set

According to Peter Abraham’s LoHud blog Jonathan Albaladejo has once again made the Yankees team right out of spring training. Albaladejo, acquired from the Nationals for Tyler Clippard, has impressed again this spring with 9 2/3 innings, allowing only eight hits, one ER, one walk with eight strikeouts. Clippard, meanwhile, is best known as probably the [...]

Girardis Genius

Last year Joe Girardi came in as manager of the New York Yankees with near impossible shoes to fill. Joe Torre's departure was an ugly one after 12 seasons of making the playoffs, and baseball's most historical stadium was closing its doors. This season the Yankee Empire looks to revive itself with a brand new stadium, brand new highly sought after free agents, and a youthful look...

SI, Names to Remember, and Clarifying my Joba Position

- Somehow I believe the Yankees will need Mark Melancon, David Robertson, Brett Tomko, and Phil Hughes to do something significant for them at some point. The Mets will call to Bobby Kielty, Dillon Gee, Jonathan Malo, and yes even Freddy Garcia before the season ends. - With all the excitement of the new ballparks the [...]

Some more Random Spring Training Thoughts

*I know some that read this will disagree, but I agree with Gardner starting over Cabrera. Gardner has performed better over the whole of Spring Training. Gardner also offers speed on the bases that the Yankees haven't really seen since Homer Bush.*The pitching looks pretty darn good so far. Sabathia, especially has been impressive, and Burnett, if we forget yesterday, has...

Citizen’s Voice: Quartet fills out final spots on New York Yanks' roster

The New York Yankees set their roster late Friday night, keeping Billy Traber, Ross Ohlendorf, Brian Bruney and Jonathan Albaladejo to fill the final four spots in the big league bullpen. There were four openings instead of three because the Yankees put starting pitcher Andy Pettitte on the disable...
