The A's said goodbye to Jason Kendall today, as they traded the struggling catcher to the Chicago Cubs for catcher Rob Bowen and minor league lefty Jerry Blevins. Kendall, from what I remember, used to be a fan favorite before his hitting woes hit an all-time high. He was hitting .226 and is being paid around $13 million this season.

They had to cut him loose. Even though catchers can get away with less than average numbers at the plate because of their ability behind it, thay have to give more than Kendall has been.

Kendall has been a huge disappointment, I remember when I went to a game earlier this year, he was hitting under .200

YES! great trade...kurt suzuki is better than him anyway, this also frees up money to re-sign dan haren. Now they gotta trade dan johnson, piazza, and get some more young talent.

Piazza is down in single A rehabbing, I thought he would be the next starting catcher.

Beane has little patience with bad contracts.

Especially since he wasn't producing sh*t.

He needed to get back to the NL. Does anyone want to trade for Phillies backup Rod Barajas and his $3M contract?

Are you suggesting that that's who the A's should go after?
