Epic Carnival:
Well I guess they will learn not to register under their real names anymore, not sure why they did in the first place, I would assume it is common practice to register under an alias.
"About 10 hours before he was scheduled to start against the Chicago Cubs, Rodriguez received a message from a man claiming to be a representative of the Astros' organization.
"You have been sent down. Your ERA is too high," Rodriguez remembers the man saying. "Sorry, Wandy. Sorry, Wandy. You have a flight at 6:15 a.m. to Round Rock, so don't miss it."
Unlike most of his teammates, Rodriguez didn't register under an alias. He said he will use one now."
That is funny stuff, 4am, roll over in a daze and being told your being sent down to the minors, that's a good one.

Pedro Gomez Takes Leak; Misses Historic Home Run
In an ironic twist of fate ESPN's Pedro Gomez, who has been shadowing Barry Bonds for the last two seasons, was not a witness to the historic event.
Said Gomez, "I had a beer and a brat before the game just like I always do. Nature called and I left to hit the head. Because of the sellout crowd the lines were unusually long. Right about the time I was washing my hands...
Top Five Stories For 2009--Chicago Cubs
A look at the top five stories of 2009 for the Chicago Cubs.
Chicago Cubs, Reed Johnson, White Slice, Video
Chicago Cubs, Reed Johnson, White Slice, Video. As the Cubbies new center-fielder, Reed Johnson has already made a name for himself. Well, it was his goat that gave him his name. His teammates thought he looked like a ?White Kimbo Slice?. Thus the nickname ?White
That really is a healthy ...
The All-Time Greatest Cubs Team
I believe I heard in the promo that on today's 30 Clubs in 30 Days show on MLB Network that covers the Chicago Cubs that they're going to announce their all-time greatest Cubs team. That seems pretty easy for the most part and I'm not sure of their criteria, but let's see if we can guess.
C - Gabby Hartnett
1B -Mark Grace
2B - Ryne Sandberg...
Cubs in the WBC, Day 3
Posted by Lionel on March 10, 2009.Another "off" day for Cubs players on Sunday. But Monday...Korea defeated Japan in a shocker, especially given the 14-2 drubbing Team Japan had handed Korea two days earlier. Fukudome batted 7th again and started in CF. He went 1 for 3, bringing him WBC BA to .286. Japan will head stateside and play in San Diego on Sunday.Vince Perkins...
Cubs in the WBC, Day 5
Posted by Lionel on March 12, 2009.Theodore Lilly got his first start for Team USA on Wednesday. He gave up 3 hits and 1 run over 3 innings pitched. He struck out 2 and didn't walk a batter. But, in my opinion, it was a disappointing outing. Why? Well, the one run he yielded was on a HR...to Henry Blanco. That's right, Hank White took Lilly yard on an 0-1 pitch. Maybe Hank...
Red Alert! Lou Says Something About the Lineup Order
I don't much stock in what Lou says about the lineup order a month before the season, but he seemed to indicate that Kosuke Fukudome is in line to bat second after the outfielder dropped by camp today with Team Japan.
"He looks wonderful," Piniella said of Fukudome. "He's in really good
shape. I told him we're holding a spot for him, and we'...

Cubs Clutch Hitting Gets Lost in the Translation
Prepping for the first game of 2nd Round WBC play in San Diego on Sunday, Team Japan defeated the Chicago Cubs 3-2 at Dwight Patterson Field at HoHoKam Park on a cool & breezy Thursday afternoon in Mesa, AZ.

Only 6,591 fans attended the game, but it was one of the best Spring Training games I've seen in a while. There were several fine defensive...
Lou Piniella Is Holding a Spot Open for Kosuke Fukudome
Following Kosuke Fukudome's first season in Chicago was a bit of a roller coaster ride. He seemingly endeared Cubs fans to him forever when he hit a home run on Opening Day and continued tearing pitchers apart through the first two months of the season. Then June came around and Fukudome began ...
Tribune Company Sold, Cubs Next
So. Tribune Company's sale to Sam Zell is a done deal, and at least one of you yesterday wondered why I didn't mention it myself, didn't make a front page post, let it go unmentioned. Why did I do this? Because nothing happened to the Chicago Cubs yesterday. We all knew this deal was coming, and the ...
Gordon Wittenmeyer Has Questions
I don?t know if the Cub beat writers are in a dumbass contest or what, but it seems each day one of them writes something dumber than another of them wrote the day before. Today, Gordo?s got some questions:
In those first moments after the Cubs were eliminated by the Los Angeles Dodgers and smashed open that dugout water pipe, manager Lou Piniella paced in his office, back and...
Use Your Imagination - Cubs v Mariners
No TV, no radio, no Gameday. Just an exciting live boxscore. Rich Harden vs. Garret Olson. Teammates on paper for a few days. Harden is backed by Aaron Heilman, who was traded for Olson, and Ryan Dempster. Press Pass also lists Jose Ascanio and Mike Stanton as scheduled to pitch.Something ...
