- Oakland Athletics owner Lewis Wolff told media outlets that the A's will hold onto Matt Holliday all season, whether they are in contention or not. He said he would rather have two draft picks instead of a package of prospects.
- According to the SF Chronicle, the A's are still pursuing free agent shortstop Rafael Furcal in hopes that he would be their leadoff man and shortstop. The Giants, Dodgers, Twins, Orioles, Blue Jays, and Tigers are all interested.
- Eric Chavez, currently recovering surgery, is expected to be ready for Opening Day.A
