TEAMS: Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees
Blue Jays infielder John McDonald recently got on the horn with the good people over at Bugs and Cranks to talk about David Eckstein, Chief Wahoo and being traded for himself. The man is the best shortstop in the American League (if not baseball) and if you don't think so -- it's one of two things -- you haven't seen him play or you just have no idea in general. Enjoy Johnny Mac!

Alex Returned to Yanks, Because of the Mets?
In an article from the Daily News' John Harper, Alex Rodriguez said that part of the reason he came back to the Yankees was because of the regret he felt when he shunned the Mets back in 2000, and eventually signed his infamous $252 million dollar deal with Texas...................read on
Derek Jeter getting drunk with girls
With opening day rapidly approaching, I'd just like to take this opportunity to let Hank Steinbrenner and Yankee Nation know how Derek Jeter spent his off-season. Everyone knows that the best way prepare for a championship run is to pass out poolside after downing some Grey Goose and a few Coronas.
Yankees to rename Legends field, making it world's largest headstone
I tried to avoid the story but it's happening whether I pay attention to it or not. The Yankees are renaming Legends Field to Steinbrenner Field.
Yanks Have Already Sold 3.8 Million Tickets
It was announced today that the Yankees have already sold more than 3.8 million tickets for the 2008 season. This is the earliest the team has reached that number, and 400,000 tickets ahead of the total at this point last season. Last season the Yankees set a franchise attendance record with 4,271,083, and they will surpass that number easily this season.
Revisiting the Bobby Abreu Trade
The Hardball Times posted a great article today that looks back on the Phillies trade of Bobby Abreu to the Yankees back in July 2006. Now that 20 months have passed since the trade, the article weighs in on the impact for both teams and comes to the conclusion that there was no real winner. While the Yankees got the better players (don't forget the late Cory Lidle was part of...
Rolen fractures finger
Toronto Blue Jays 3B Scott Rolen suffered a non-displaced fracture of the bone in the tip of his right middle finger, in addition to ripping off the fingernail. The incident took place during routine infield drills during this mornings practice. Rolen took a flight Sunday night to Baltimore to get the finger checked out by a hand specialist on Monday. How long will he be out?
Blessed are the optionless; Marte, Breslow make bid for Tribe's final roster spots
Andy MartEE is seeking the final spot among the position players on the Tribe's roster.
With the Tribe tabbing Jorge Julio for a spot in the pen and sending Scott Elarton to Buffalo today, newly arrived lefty reliever Craig Breslow is in a similar situation out in the pen - battling Tom Mastny for the last musical chair out there.
Both MartEE and Breslow are out of options...

Solve Everyone's Problems: Trade Favre For Manny
Manny wouldn't know the difference. Ship him to Green Bay, have 'new' manager Mike McCarthy hold a morning meeting explaining to Manny that the rules and strategy of baseball have been completely modified. He'll be excited as if he were in gym class and it was a new school week and was time to move on and play a different sport. And playing in Wisconsin, he's...
Hey Omar, What's Not To Like About Reed?
Acquiring a guy like Johnson doesn't give the Mets a bat they can rely on in the clutch, but it does give them depth. Something this Mets team lacks. Alou is older, and has shown signs of breaking down. Ryan Church has some great potential, but only has one season under his belt as an everyday player. Carlos Beltran is one of the league's best, but due to his hard play, missing...

David Eckstein A Met at $9 Million Per Year???
This is ridiculous. I like David Eckstein, as he's a good, scrappy ballplayer; however, in a seminar I took with Bill Ripken this winter, he noted that the infielder had, "no tools, but manages to make it work"...
Well, Mr. Eckstein wants to get paid.
From the New York Daily News: Eckstein, the 2006 World Series MVP at shortstop, apparently is looking for...
