I'm not big on the touchy-feely stuff, but today the Pirates got emotional and put their lives in perspective, and we should do the same.---First, the good news. Doug Mientkiewicz, of course, left the team briefly as his wife, Jodi, underwent heart surgery. She's OK and had a pacemaker installed, and has returned to her Pittsburgh home. Let's be frank--Jason Davis pitched himself out of the rotation tonight. He was absoultely terrible. That's the bad news. The good news is--unlike a month or so ago when it was nearly impossible to pitch one's self out of the Pirates rotation--now a guy who came in with a 1.80 ERA is likely gone (since Gorzo and Ohlendorf are both throwing well in Triple-A).
