Julio Franco's 48th birthday reminds us yet again that baseball players' shelf lives continue to extend past the expiration date unlike the clockwork, waiting to expire 12 eggs Franco clucks down each morning to keep himself healthy. He's not the only one playing into his twilight years though.
"Based on their 2006 birthdays, entering the season there were 120 players 35 and older, including 22 players who topped 40."
