According to ESPN, the Braves have sent Brett Lillibridge, Jo-Jo Reyes, and a prospect to the White Sox for Javier Vazquez and reliever Boone Logan. The deal is pending physicals by the parties involved.
Vazquez heads back to the NL after some years in the hitter's league. He is a good pickup for the Braves as they try to address some pitching issues. Reyes is only 24 as of November 20th, so he still has a bit of upside. I don't see much for the light hitting Lillibridge. Logan is only 24 as well and he has two years of experience. I see him as possibly doing pretty well for the Braves. He keeps the ball in the yard pretty well and strikes guys out as well (42 k's in 42 innings last year).
Vazquez was a slim possibility for the Mets. There was talk of the Mets acquiring him weeks ago. He certainly was not their first or even second option. However, I can't help thinking that the Mets always seem to work one step at a time. Other teams appear to kind of bounce around the map ranging from low to mid to high level players. I feel like Minaya prioritizes the important players first then moves on to the lesser significance issue. In theory, this sounds appropriate. However, other teams are addressing multiple areas always.

Phil Rogers' pitching observations
Phil Rogers has a few observations:Mike MacDougal looked good throwing from the bullpen mounds in Tucson on Sunday. So, too, did Javier Vazquez, who appears to have passed Mark Buehrle to become the White Sox's best pitcher. Many believe Vazquez had a career year in 2007. I believe that he only st...
