Eli's MLB Rumors:
The Atlanta Braves have acquired outfielder Nate McLouth from the Pirates in exchange for pitchers Charlie Morton and Jeff Locke, and outfielder Gorkys Hernandez. This is a solid move for both clubs, but especially the Pirates. McLouth had a breakout year last season, hitting .276 with 26 home runs in 152 games. McLouth is 27, and should provide the Braves with some much needed support in the middle of their lineup. The Pirates acquire Charlie Morton, who is 7-2 with a 2.51 ERA in 10 starts this season. He is a 1.05 WHIP. Locke, 21, is 1-4 with a 5.52 ERA in ten starts in the Carolina League.

Braves Acquire Nate McLouth From Pirates
Nate McLouth has been traded to the Atlanta Braves. McLouth, who is hitting .256 with nine homers and a .470 slugging percentage this year, will likely serve as the Braves every day center fielder. The 26-year-old outfielder hit .276 with 26 homers and 94 RBIs last year.
Nate McClouth is reasonably priced until 2012.
The Pirates get room for a player I'm high on in Andrew McCutchen as well a major league ready prospect in Charlie Morton. If either Gorkys Hernandez or Jeff Locke come to being good for Pittsburgh, it's a deal that will help both sides. There's not much more to say. Glavine's story is sad, but many top athletes have long goodbyes. And Frank Wren must be plum tuckered out.

Why Pittsburgh Pirates fans should have no faith left in their team and the people that run it
What is the fastest way to alienate an already bitter fan-base? Trade your best young player. Who would do this? Hint: they have had 16, that’s right 16 straight losing seasons. Kids who just...

What is Nate McLouth worth?
That's an anecdotal question at this point, because Neal Huntington has set his value at Craig Morton, Gorkys Hernandez, and Jeff Locke. The question that remains: is that enough? McLouth is signed reasonably through 2011 and the Pirates didn't get Tommy Hanson or Jason Heyward in this deal, so immediately, Pirate fans are going to hate it. I can feel the hateful venom pouring...
