Yeah.....Tom Gorzelanny gave up all 6 in 4.2 innings. Not an ideal return. Adam LaRoche homered, but the Bucs left a lot of guys on base and should have done a lot more against Jeff Suppan. Torres notched a save. There isn't a whole lot more to say about this one.-Will we ever win at Miller Park again? CC tomorrow...

Brewers 4, Pirates 3

I saw none of the game, but here's what I can gather:-CC and Maholm both pitched pretty decent games. Neither factored into the decision--Paul gave up 2 runs in 6 and CC gave up one in 7.-The Bucs were down 1 in the 9th, and old buddy Salomon Torres blew a save. That had to be an enjoyable moment.-In the 12th, the Pirates loaded the bases with no outs. Moss, Gomez, and Rivas all...

Jose Bautista Is No Hall Of Famer

The Pirates traded Joe Bautista to Toronto in exchange for a player to be named later. The deal confirmed what fans, media members, teammates and, most importantly, Jose Bautista had suspected for some time now - that new Pirates management was no fan of, you guessed it, Jose Bautista. For whatever reason, his abilities did [...]

Sabathia credits Boss for NL dominance

MILWAUKEE, WI — Recently acquired Brewer’s pitcher CC Sabathia has gone on a tear as of late – with an 8-0 record and an ERA of 1.60 in his nine starts since being traded to Milwaukee – inspiring talk of a possible NL Cy Young Award. Surprisingly, the big left-hander credits his surge not to [...]

GameDay #128 at Brewers

Pirates (57-70) at Brewers (73-55)8:05--Miller Park, MilwaukeeZach Duke (4-11, 5.26) vs. Dave Bush (7-9, 4.26)[Preview]-----------The Pirates have not had fun at Miller Park this year. They were there for 4th of July weekend and got swept. After that burst, the Brewers decided to go for it. They acquired CC Sabathia and declared themselves in an all-out race for the Central with...

GameDay #130 at Brewers

Pirates (57-72) at Brewers (75-55)2:05--Miller Park, MilwaukeePaul Maholm (8-7, 3.64) vs. CC Sabathia (14-8, 2.99)[Preview]----------It's a battle of aces today at Miller. Unfortunately, Paul Maholm--great as he's been--doesn't appear to be much of a match for CC Sabathia, who is 8-0 with a 1.60 ERA since being traded to the Brewers. Yeah. 8-0, 1.60. Do 'ya think they're getting...

The last 5 weeks for the Cubs and Brewers

I wanted to get this published before the game thread today since the numbers will change after today's games.  The table is too large to post here so click on the link below. Log5.html The last 2 column headers in the table log5-wpct and log5-pythag-wpct is the only thing I assume you need an explanation for.  If not, you probably couldn't find your way here anyway.  Bill...

Loss #74

And boy, was it ugly. Jeff Karstens had a clean first, then things started to snowball for him and he ended up just making it through three and allowing five runs for his third straight loss and worst Pirate outing.-Jason Davis came in after that and was somehow worse. A lot worse. 5 runs in 2 innings for him. Somewhere in there Brandon Moss hit a homer, which was cool, but Ted Lilly...
