68°, wind blowing straight out to CF at 10 mph. Tonight's likely starters against Sabathia (Soto, Lee, Cedeno, Theriot, Ramirez, Soriano, Johnson and DeRosa) are a combined 28-82 with 3 doubles and 5 home runs (4 by Soriano) against Sabathia. Jason Kendall and Ray Durham have hit Dempster pretty well, but he's done very well against the rest of the Brewers hitters.

Today Must Kick Off "National Offensive T-Shirt Week"
Yeah, the Jersey City Colored Athletics shirt seemed a wee bit inappropriate.
Well, the fine folks at Google infiltrating our email must've taken note and are trying to pawn off "Horry Kow" tees to us.
Fukudome and 99.99% playoff odds
Kosuke Fukudome's playing time has become less and less as the season has progressed. His overall batting line has fallen to .259/.360/.378. A .738 OPS out of your right fielder pretty much sucks. His OPS since the all-star break has been a pathetic .619.
His VORP was above 10 after 3 or 4 weeks of the season and is now 5.0. He's been below replacement level offensively...
Cubbie Chaser: Celebrating "The Pitch"
I know it's way too early to start assigning big, dramatic names to things. Neither the division, nor even a playoff berth, has been clinched. Get cocky now, and you know what big, dramatic name we'll have for October: Suicide Time.
But just for today, I'm dubbing Kerry Wood's 3-2 offering to Prince Fielder in the Cubs' 5-4 win last night, "The pitch."
It was a good day
The title of this blog is appropriate not only for the song I chose to talk about but also the events that occurred earlier today. First, a look back on a great song and then my thoughts on Ned Yost, Doug Melvin and the coach firing heard around the world.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Milwaukee Brewers finally pulled the trigger on Monday afternoon and fired Manager Ned Yost. The firing came off of a weekend series in Philadelphia in which the Brewers were swept by the Phillies to lose the Wild Card lead. The Brewers held the lead in the Wild Card lead coming into September but a monumental collapse has cost Yost the chance to turn things around.
Cubs Working On Extension For Piniella
The Cubs are working on an extension for manager Lou Piniella, who in his first two years as manager, has put a top of the line team on the field everyday. Not only has he worked with players Jason Marquis, Derrek Lee, Felix Pie, Geovany Soto, and many more, but his late game calling and solid staff has put the Cubs way over the top. Cubs President Crane Kenney told the Chicago Sun...
The "Friendly Confines" is not "The Point" #2
In follow up to Lionel's post below here is a picture of a horse jockey. He was playing with his lady friends mane the entire game. After some mean looks and shrewd comments from our row he slowly decreased his grabbing and yanking. Clearly they have some Wrigley fetish...Towel Drills: A Chicago Cubs Blog

Brewers Fans Divided: “A” Historic Collapse or “An” Historic Collapse?
Filled with anguish over the team's horrific but somehow entirely foreseeable September collapse, Brewers fans have become divided over just what is actually happening to their team. While all Brewers fans seem to agree that the Crew had a comfortable lead in the wild card standings coming into September, and squandered it with lifeless offense [...]
THE 10 MOST CONFUSING NAMES IN SPORTS
Recently, there was great debate about an LPGA mandate requiring players who did not speak English to, you know...speak English. Contrary to what many people think, English is not an easy language to master, hence the LPGA's quick reversal on the policy. And I'm here to prove it, with a few sports examples of some names that could've royally confused the Seon-Hwa Lees...

Cubbie Chaser: A Good Day...Whoda Thunk It?
Hopefully (a huge element of the Cubs fan vocabulary), after throwing 110 adrenaline-packed pitches, Big Z won't need another MRI today, and he won't morph back into Bad Z between now and his next start (against the Cardinals Friday). We need to see a little consistency from him now, not dramatics.
Save those for October, when we'll have planned ahead and stocked up on Xanax.

BIG Z NO HITS THE.... Milwaukee Astros....?
Sunday night was a great night for me. For the past 20 years now, I have been watching as many Chicago Cubs games every summer as I possibly could. I became a die-hard fan at a very young age and have suffered through many losing seasons and disappointments as all Cubs fans have. This year, of course, things have been different. Something feels special and unique about these 2008...
12 Games Remain
Holy crap, it's the middle of September already. I remember anxiously awaiting the first pitch of the 2008 Philadelphia Phillies season back on a cold day in March, and yet here we are with only 12 games remaining on the schedule and the Phils in the thick of the NL playoff picture. Things didn't always look so good for the Phightins though, but thanks to some recent events...
Who Wants to Be the Spoiler?
Thanks to the Brew Crew getting throttled this weekend in Philly and the Mets bullpen holding up their portion of the bargain, the NL race has become suddenly very interesting. Currently 4 teams are separated by 3 games and fighting for two spots. Unfortunately, over the course of the next two weeks these teams will never face off against each other, so prepare for a lot of teams...
