Found November 24, 2008 on Bugs & Cranks:
When last we heard from Devil Rays Super Fan Brian Knobbs, his civil rights were being violated as he was ejected from Fenway Park during Game 5 of the ALCS for no good reason. Apparently earlier this month he was photographed palling around with PED apologist Jason Giambi. Why? Hell if I know. [...]

  • I love the fact that the Rays just went to the World Series and the only two celebrity fans of the team that I can name are Dick Vitale and Brian Knobbs. Any guesses as to who their third fan might be? Remember, he has to be less of a celeb than Knobbs (as Knobbs is less than Vitale). It's purely speculative, but I'm going with Jesse Camp.

From the NY Post: Also on the film front, actor Josh Lucas said he is thrilled to get the chance to play Thurman Munson in the upcoming film "Keeper of the Pinstripes" that will feature Bernie Williams. Lucas wants to put on about 20 pounds for the role and plans to do some in-depth research. ...

If CC, AJ And D-Lowe Are No-Gos

CC Sabathia, AJ Burnett and Derek Lowe. How terrible would it be if the Yankees were unable to sign even one of them? You know how I feel about CC Sabathia. I hope he gets a chance to swing the bat every five days for some NL team on the West Coast. Let them suffer the effects of the 253 innings ...

All Is Quiet

Not much going out there in Yankeeland. Hal Steinbrenner has assumed control of the team, but other than that all is pretty quiet. As long as the person in the charge of the Yankees is named Steinbrenner, I'm happy. Hal and Hank definitely know what their father has meant for the team and for ...

Yankee Stadium will now be torn down next fall because a movie will be filmed there? Hughes bringing the HEAT!

from the LoHud Yankees Blog: We're hearing that the old Stadium won't be torn down until next fall. A movie will be filming there in the spring and summer, it seems. It's going to be a while before fans get to purchase seats and other memorabilia. Will the long delay reduce the value? I'm hardly a marketing guy, but it seems to me that the best time to sell that...

Yankee stadium nearing completion. Construction about 90 percent complete.

I don't know about you guys, but I am excited for the new Yankee stadium. A lot of people are disgusted and mad about the old ballpark leaving, but things change. I know I'm pretty young and didn't get to see what the old ballpark was like, except for pictures, but I understand. The Yankees have had a lot of tradition and memories on those hollowed grounds. It's not...

With Knicks Help, CC May Land in Pinstripes

From Buster Olney:Sabathia, in the end, may take the largest offer that he will receive -- and in the end, the largest offer will come from the Yankees. But other factors, such as friendships, will be a factor in how Sabathia decides, and the Yankees might have gotten very lucky on Friday. The ...

Your Sportsmen Ain’t S#!t #4: Josh Hamilton, Kurt Warner, Stephen Curry, Nick Lidstrom, and the Anderson Monarchs

Jon Heyman has nominated Devil Rays manager Joe Maddon for Sports Illustrated's 2008 Sportsman Of The Year. I trust that by now all of our readers know the many, many reasons why Joe Maddon would be the most deserving recipient of this award a?" EVER. But I thought it would be fun and in character [...]

Starting Pitching Market : With Lowe and Perez looking to cash in, Mets will look for cheaper alternatives

In the NY Daily News, John Harper reports that the Mets will have to look for cheaper alternatives at starting pitcher because Boras' Clients, Derek Lowe and Oliver Perez will be priced too high. The Mets are in the hunt for two starting pitchers, and Harper points out that the Mets have interest in Jon Garland and might revisit the trade possibility of Javier Vazquez. I...

NL Central Smackdown Revisited

Back in April, I put up some polls for our readers to rank the position players and number one pitchers in the division. I originally intended to get them up before the season started so any hot starts wouldn't influence the results. I failed miserably at that and the poll results showed that (Derrek Lee second?). Nonetheless, let's revisit the fun. I'm just...

Despite A Fist Full Of Dollars, Mets Won't Spend A Few Dollars More

Despite drawing 4 million fans last season, and the expectations of even more riches on the horizon with Citi Field, the Mets will be winging it this off season rather than using all of their riches to address the teams most glaring needs. No team in the National League has more team revenue then the New York Mets. The have a treasure chest of cash flow from record breaking attendance...

The St. Louis Cardinals are currently negotiating with former Rays lefty Trever Miller. Is signing Trever Miller a good move for the Cardinals?
