Bring on the Dodgers! Phillies on to the NLCS

The Phillies did something today that they hadn't done in 15 years: win a playoff series. For the first time since their magical run in 1993, the Phillies beat the Brewers and advanced to the NLCS with a 3-1 series win. The Phillies will now take on the Dodgers who are fresh off their sweep of the Chicago Cubs.
Sunday's series clinching 6-2 win featured lots of homers and great pitching by the Phils. All 6 of the Phillies runs came off homers as Pat Burrell hit two bombs and Jimmy Rollins and Jayson Werth each hit one. Rollins' homer was a leadoff shot and Burrell added a 3-run homer in the 3rd inning as the Phils jumped out to an early lead.
With the offense taken care of early, Joe Blanton cruised. Blanton dominated the Brewers, giving up 5 hits in 6 innings and striking out 7 batters. He gave up one run to Prince Fielder but was otherwise unhittable. The homer by Fielder was the only extra-base hit the Phils gave up the whole game.
Now it's on to the NLCS and the Dodgers.

Beat LA! Beat LA!

Great job by the Phils...Things are falling their way...BEAT LA!!!!!!!!

at least one of our teams is doing something right! if they did'nt win, this would've been one of the worst weekends in philly sports history.

haha careful what you wish for...LA is the best looking team in the playoffs right now besides maybe Boston. I say we have a Manny Ramirez walk-a-thon. I wouldn't give him a single pitch to hit the entire series. Bases loaded? F-it, we'll give em 1 hahaha

We pretty much shut down Manny when we played him this year (besides Blanton). Manny only hit .287 with 1 HR this year against the Phillies in 8 games.

October Manny is a completely different beast...you don't shut him down.

dodgers do look very impressive, but the phillies pitching really impressed me and i dont think the dodgers are going to play good in the cold weather at philly

You do realize it was pretty cold in Chicago for the 1st 2 games of that series right? Weather will have nothing to do with the series.

it could get colder

GO FIGHTINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dodgers will win in six!! Manny is destined to meet the Red Sox in the World Series.

DTRIK: I personally love this series... we are facing by far the worst team from the NL to make the playoffs this year. Sure they got hot for 3 games and took down an ICE COLD Cubs team, but they can cool off just as quickly. We beat a Brewers team w/ C.C., Prince, Braun, Hart, etc. without any huge contributions from Howard and Utley... our offense was about 1/2 as good as it can be/ was in the run up to the playoffs, and we will get back to that form in this series. Our pitchers are ultra confident, Hamels and Myers looked like the aces they are in the Brewers series. Our bullpen was spectacular, we have the best closer in the game, and Pat Burrell might finally be coming out of his slump.
Our starting pitching is about equal with the dodgers
Our bullpen is significantly better than the dodgers
Our lineup overall is better than the dodgers
How do you not love this matchup? One player (Manny) doesn't make a team. He cannot/will not make that big of a difference. Phils win this series in 5-6 b/c the dodgers have no left handed pitching and the meat of the phillies order loves right handers.
Would you really have rather faced Harden, Zambrano, Lily, Dempster, and the closer Wood? And Aramis Ramirez, Lee, Soriano, Fukudome, Soto? Yes the cubs went cold and ended up losing (anything can happen in a 5 game series) to the Dodgers, but they were a much much better team. The dodgers stack up so perfectly for the Phils, everything is in the Phillies favor, and we have home field.
But whatever you think about the Dodgers, the series is what it is, and cannot be changed. It's Phils vs. Dodgers for a spot in the World Series. And I personally like the Phils in 6.

Worst team record wise. And its all about whos the hottest team now. Were the Rockies the best team in the NL playoffs last year according to their record? Nope. Personally I wouldn't care if they played the 1970 Yankees at this point, but the Dodgers are certainly no team to overlook. They have speed, power, and power pitchers...the kind that win in October. And yea I would have rather faced the Cubs...they're jinxed!

Point is DTRIK, a single Cole Hamels gem on Thursday spoils all Dodgers momentum, and they are back to the Regular Season so-so Dodgers. Yes I guess momentum is somewhat important, but it can change so quickly that the better team usually wins, especially in a 7 game series, and in this series, the Phillies are the better team. Not to mention the Phillies have some momentum too... they spanked C.C Sabathia, and our pitchers handled a very talented lineup like it was nothing.

I am by no means overlooking the Dodgers, or saying this series will be easy, but I do think the Phils are the favorite and will win it in 6. And if the Phils do lose this series, it will be considered a disappointment by me.
