The Brewers were unable to complete a three game sweep of the Cubs on Thursday when they took their first loss of the season, 6-3.
Dave Bush (0-1) was unable to throw the third straight quality start for Brewers' hurlers. Bush gave up six runs and six hits in only 5 1/3 innings. He walked a career high five batters which led to his demise. The bullpen continued to impress as Seth McClung and Derrick Turnbow held the Cubs scoreless for 2 2/3 innings.

Now is the Time to Apologize to Bartman?
Moises Alou's latest admission that he wouldn't have caught the Bartman ball has led many fans to begin forgiving Bartman. Instead, it would be a good time to apologize to Bartman. However, little can be done to make up for the lost years of Steve Bartman's life.
Series Recap: Brewers at Cubs
If you had told me Monday morning that the Brewers would take two of three from the Cubs, I'd have been ecstatic. I can't help be a little disappointed though after Thursday's game. Sure the Crew won the series, but I can't help feel like there was an opportunity missed at Wrigley Field.
The Brewers were 9-17 in road series last season, so to win the first road...
Inaugural 2008 posting: Brewers defense looks vastly improved
If you followed this Brewer blog last year, I argued until I was blue in the face that the Brewers' "pitching" problems were actually defensive problems. The Brewers defense was awful everywhere and, in my opinion, it ruined a decent Brewer pitching staff.I thought that conclusion was self-evident. After all, as I argued last season, in order to conclude otherwise,...

Mets Meet With Vargas
While nothing is imminent, Minaya has confirmed that he met with Bean Stringfellow (yes, that's his real name), agent for free agent pitcher Claudio Vargas. Vargas had a strong spring (3-1, 3.86) , but given the Brewers deep pitching staff he ended up being the odd man out. Vargas isn't what you'd call a dominating pitcher, but he is a serviceable arm at the back of...
Brewer defense in Houston was outstanding until the end
I know everyone is bummed out about losing the third game in the Houston series, but there is one very positive thing that can be taken from this leg of the road trip. The Brewers, normally a sloppy defensive unit, were outstanding for nearly the entire series.Up until the moment Dave Bush left the t...
Notes on a Brewer loss that hurt
After last night's loss the Brewers are playing uphill again, back to being one game behind the Chicago Cubs. They nearly swept the Astros, but nearly doesn't get it done anymore. A couple of thoughts:...I was curious as to why Ned Yost let Dave Bush hit for himself in the top of the seventh, but the...
