PLAYERS:
Jeremy Guthrie
What if I told you that the most powerful agent in baseball lost a
client to one of, if not the, most powerful agencies in all of sports?
Scott Boras, busy working the media and GMs at the 2008 Winter Meetings, now has one less player to worry about. Jeremy Guthrie dropped Boras for Casey Close and Brodie Van Wagenen of Creative Artists Agency.
CAA Baseball is nothing to scoff at. They represent a ton of Major League's best. However, you do not often hear of any client leaving Scott Boras for another high-profiled agency. Will there be bad blood between Boras Corp. and CAA in the future? With both entities calling California home, there may be some big time fights over players in the future. Good thing I will be keeping my distance in the talent-rich state of Florida.
Regarding the switch of agents, Guthrie stated,
"It was for a number of different reasons, most importantly, a personal preference for my career."
That sure tells us a lot?
