Despite the injury-riddled season the big club has had this year, there is a silver lining for 2009. It's hard to imagine the farm system having a better season than it did this year. Many prospects took a huge step forward. Daniel Murphy homered, tripled and drove in four runs to back Mike Pelfrey's eight efficient innings in the New York Mets' 4-2 victory over the Cubs on Sunday. Pelfrey allowed five hits in his longest outing this year and Murphy finished a double shy of the cycle. The Mets took two of three from Chicago in a series between preseason NL favorites who have struggled all season.

On Tuesday David Wright made his glorious return to the New York Mets lineup after taking a 94 mph fast ball to the head about 3 weeks ago.
Based on the poor season the Mets are having this year it would of been easy for Wright to shut it down for the final month of the season. The Mets are currently 60—74 and 18.5 games out of 1st in the NL East and have been crippled...
