Select the image above to see theall 30 representatives for the 2009First-Year Player Draft (PDF)Hall of Famers Al Kaline, Bill Mazeroski, Billy Williams and Tommy Lasorda are among a distinguished group of baseball figures and front office personnel who are scheduled to be in attendance at Major League Baseball’s 2009 First-Year Player Draft, which will begin live on MLB Network at 6:00 p.m. (EDT) on Tuesday, June 9th from MLB Network’s Studio 42 in Secaucus, New Jersey.All 30 Major League Clubs will feature a representative at the 2009 First-Year Player Draft. In addition to Kaline (DET), Mazeroski (PIT), Billy Williams (CHI) and Lasorda (LAD), other representatives scheduled to attend include former All-Stars Craig Biggio (HOU), Jay Buhner (SEA), Ellis Burks (CLE), Eric Davis (CIN), Shawon Dunston (SF), John Franco (NYM), Ralph Garr (ATL), Tommy Harper (BOS), Pat Hentgen (TOR), Willie Horton (DET), Ron Kittle (CWS), Tino Martinez (NYY), Lee Mazzilli (NYY), Blue Moon Odom (OAK), Moose Skowron (CWS), Jim Sundberg (TEX), Bob Watson (MLB), Devon White (WSH), Woody Williams (SD) and Eric Young (COL).Also among the representatives will be former Baltimore Orioles pitcher Ben McDonald, who, like Dunston, is a one-time top overall selection in the Draft. Dunston was the top choice by the Chicago Cubs in 1982, while McDonald went first overall to the Orioles in 1989. Former managers and general managers scheduled to attend include Pat Corrales (WSH), Dallas Green (PHI), Roland Hemond (ARI), Joe McIlvaine (MIN), Jack McKeon (FLA), Bill Stoneman (LAA), Bill Virdon (PIT) and Don Zimmer (TB). Many other executives and former Major Leaguers also will be on hand.“Major League Baseball and our 30 Clubs realize that the First-Year Player Draft is an area of increasing interest among baseball fans,” said Jimmie Lee Solomon, MLB’s Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations. “The response within the industry has been remarkable. It will be a great night in Studio 42.”The 2009 First-Year Player Draft will expand from two days to three days, with the final two days being conducted via conference call from MLB headquarters in New York City. The first day of the 2009 Draft will consist of the first 111 picks, including Round One, Compensation Round A, Round Two, Round Three and Compensation Round B.On Wednesday, June 10th, the Draft will resume in the fourth round at 12:00 p.m. (EDT) and will be tentatively scheduled to go through the 30th round. The Draft will conclude on Thursday, June 11th, which is set to cover the 31st-50th rounds, beginning at 11:30 a.m. (EDT).MLB Network will broadcast the selections made in the first round live. Beginning with the compensation round (the 33rd overall pick), MLB.com will air a live video stream from Studio 42 for the remainder of the day’s selections.
