Eli's MLB Rumors:
The Chicago Tribune is reporting that the Cubs have interest in free agent third baseman Mike Lamb. Lamb, who would back up Aramis Ramirez, was released by the Brewers earlier this week. He is hitting .250 this spring, but has a .277 career batting average. Sources believe the Cubs are serious about adding Lamb considering they pursued Corey Koskie this offseason as well. Koskie has since retired from baseball, leaving Aaron Miles as the fall back if Ramirez were to go down. This story was approved by MLB Rumors.

Projecting the 2009 Cubs: the final one
For these team projections I've used the playing time projections that we put together. The statistics for the hitters are from the 2009 Shawon's, which are based on the following projections: Marcel, Chone, PECOTA, and ZiPS. The pitching stats (FIP) are the average of those same 4 projection systems. The defense for most of the players was a 3-year weighted UZR average...
DVD Contest Entries
Chien-Ming Wang just delivered the first pitch to Aaron Miles (a strike), and with that chance to win the Essential Games of Yankee Stadium DVD box set has come and gone. I am giving away 5 copies of the box set and there are 8 participants, so the odds of winning are pretty good. Here are the questions with everyone's guesses (please feel free to double check for errors):How...

I blame Wrigleyville23
We already know how bizarre Cubs fans are. We talk about it more than we should, but it’s hard not to discuss it. I’d never come across A Cub Fan’s Obsession until this morning and, well, I kind of wish I never had.
I blamed Wrigleyville23 earlier this week for coming across a terrible Cubs blog so I’ve decided to just blame him every time I find one....
Live PBP New Yankee Stadium Exhibition Game 1 With Pics:
Pre Game:Top First:The first pitch ever thrown at the New Yankee Stadium was a strike by Chien-Ming Wang to Aaron Miles. Miles picked up the base hit ever to the left field followed by another single. RBI Sac fly by Derreck Lee. 1-0 Cubs. Miles looked out at the plate but was called safe at home plate. Great throw by Gardner in center though. 2 fly outs, 3 outs. 12 pitches ( strikes...
The Twinkies have a Little Lamb
The Twins sign Mike Lamb to a two year deal. His OBA has been well above his career average the last two seasons. Even if he falls off a bit, he should be a good replacement for Nick Punto....
Ladies And Gentlemen, Welcome To Yankee Stadium
I'm sitting down to watch the "opener." This kind of reminds me of a "soft open" that stores or casinos do before the official grand opening. A little way to make sure the kinks are worked out. At first, I wasn't thrilled when they announced an exhibition game at the new digs, but I've warmed up to the idea. It's really getting me excited for...
Game 11: Zambrano vs. Myers
This might not be the best time for the Cubs to come to town. Chicago has won five straight in getting out to a 6-3 start, and a talented lineup led by Derrek Lee, Aramis Ramirez and Kosuke Fukudome is clicking on all cylinders. Worse, the Phillies--whose own offense ha...

A change of heart?
Paul Sullivan has been on a roll lately and his blog post today is of no different quality than the others we’ve discussed.
For a few brief moments, it looked like Alfonso Soriano was going to move down in the lineup and be replaced by either Ryan Theriot, Aaron Miles, Mike Fontenot or, gulp, Kosuke Fukudome.
That’s not exactly how I recall it, but it’s been...
