Rounding up the week's best in user-created content. There's so much good stuff around here that this should become a weekly feature.
[Editor's note: that is the plan for the rest of the season; if/when diaries start to fall off we might make it biweekly.]
Any discussion of excellent diaries from the past week has to begin with Misopogon's 2-parter, "The Decimated Defense" (part 2).
Part one discusses the number of recruits and the amount of attrition from Michigan defensive recruiting classes over the last five years:
Small defensive class size seems to more culpable than attrition for the defense's depth issues.
Very, very little of the overall attrition on defense seems to be related to the coaching change.
The disastrous Class of 2005 is still leaving ripples through Michigan's program. If you discount the erstwhile 5th year seniors and true freshmen, our attrition rate is still like 1 out of 3, which is bad, but not as ludicrously bad...

Blog Ten Gameday: It Seems Rich Rodriguez Wants To Get Fired
Now I’m of the opinion that the idea of firing a coach in only his second year at a school is idiotic. I don’t care what a school’s tradition is, a coach needs some time to work his system and players in, and he should be given that time.
All that being said, I can understand all the frustration that is sure to come pouring out of Ann Arbor this week. Half the town already wants Rich
Rich Rodriguez and Danny Hope Are Not Best Friends
It seems there may be an SEC style feud between coaches brewing in the Big Ten following Purdue’s win over Michigan on Saturday morning.
After the game as head coaches Danny Hope and Rich Rodriguez were meeting on the field Hope made sure to bring over offensive lineman Zack Reckman. See, Reckman was suspended for a game earlier this season after delivering a late hit against Northern

Mailbag, Part Deux!
Super mailbag week because the mails, they come in. Side note: I try to be good about answering most of the emails that hit the inbox. This has been untenable over the last week. If you sent something and didn't get a response, try again after the Ohio State game.
At some point expectations of Rodriguez's success at Michigan can't be based solely on his performance at WV and...
Lynn Henning: U-M's lack of success under Rich Rodriguez is mystifying

I Bet Rich Rodriguez Could Sure Use A Couple Of Boilermakers Right About Now
Michigan lost to Purdue 38-36 at the Big House, the first time to Purdue since 1966. The Wolverines have now lost three straight and five consecutive Big Ten games. Even worse? Rich Rod got punked at midfield after the game. After the game, Rodriguez went out to midfield for the customary handshake with Purdue head coach Danny Hope. The problem was Hope brought a guest: Purdue offensive...

Immaculate Redemption
I’ve alluded in the past to the parallels in media and fan perception of both Alex Rodriguez and Rich Rodriguez. While their shared surname is quite likely a coincidence, they certainly can relate to each other when it comes to stereotypes. Alex Rodriguez has been one of baseball’s villains ever since he signed a $252 million contract with the Texas Rangers nine years ago. Before...
Angelique S. Chengelis: Brandon's no Minor gain for Wolverines
Minor, who has battled a nagging high ankle/foot sprain this season, has: a) practiced this week, and b) practiced well, coach Rich Rodriguez said Wednesday.
