To everyone who thinks the Phils aren't about winning, blame it on the ownership not the management. If you think for one second that Pat Gillick wasn't doing everything he could to improve the team today your just foolish, and you know nothing about how the game works. All that garbage about how he's a lame duck GM is nonsense, if that were the case why would he care about trading away our top prospects? Sometimes yes you have to make sacrifices , you have to trade away some young talent, or prospects to get a piece your missing.

Lose a sock, Beantown?
Big ups to Curt Detweiler from Ground Zero Los Angeles for forwarding me these photos, which are now appearing all over laundromats in the city of angels. I met Curt earlier this year in NYC, where we drank copious amounts of booze and reminisced over the legendary Gait brothers. If you don't know who the Gait brothers are, you're dead to me.
At The Wire: Manny To LA
As the Dealine approached all eyes were on Manny. The proposed deal from last night involving Florida, Boston, and Pittsburgh appeared completely dead. And it in fact was. That didn't mean Manny would be in Boston tonight. It looks like Manny will be with former rival Joe Torre in sunny LA.
Manny to the Dodgers and as with the previous Florida-Boston-Pittsburgh deal, The Pirates
Schilling chimes in on Manny saga
Curt Schilling had some thoughts on the Manny saga... get the scoop at The Bottom Line.
Pudge Traded to Yankees
I don't have a link yet, but i just saw this on ESPNEWS. According to Buster Olney, the Yankees have traded Kyle Farnsworth to the Tigers for Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez. I like this trade for the Yankees. Farnsworth is average at best, and the Yankees have guys in the minors who could easily replace him. Pudge has an OPS+ of 101 this year, so he's about a league average pitcher, which...
Red Sox Also Get SI Writer Jon Heyman In Manny Trade
It's always humorous when a non-Sports channel decides to try to report on something. For as much flak as we give ESPN, for the amount of info the ratio of mistakes to the amount of information they produce is pretty small. CNBC however rarely gets into the Sports game and hilarity ensues when they do....When big news breaks, it's always a struggle to try to put together...
Yanks Secret Negotiator Revealed
The Yankees secret negotiator was revealed on a mural in a bar outside the Stadium.
Manny a New Day
Dear Los Angeles Dodgers,So you guys have Manny Ramirez now. I wish you and him well and I'll miss very much having him on the Red Sox. I've followed Manny for seven and a half years, so I wanted to offer some tips on dealing with him:⢠Manny will be delighted to learn that celebrities often attend Dodgers games. But he will be deeply saddened to learn that SpongeBobâ...
Yankees grab Ivan Rodriguez from Tigers
The Yankees traded Pudge Rodriguez to the Tigers for Kyle Farnsworth...the Red Sox may want to consider picking up the phone...
Pudge for Farnsworth?
The Yankees found the need to replace Jorge Posada on Wednesday.....they successfully accomplished this goal by trading for Ivan Rodriguez. In return The Tigers got Kyle Farnsworth. They really needed someone in the bullpen due to recent struggles late in games. Both teams are still in the AL Race and coming ...
Live Trade Deadline Tracker: Griffey Jr. gone, Rameriz Next?
Josh Schwader brings you the latest news from the trade deadline. Will Manny Rameriz leave Boston? Ken Griffey Jr, Mark Texiera, and Ivan Rodriguez have already been traded in the busiest trade deadline in recent memory.
Ken Griffey Jr. was finally traded. Probably not to the team you would've expected either. ...
Manny Ramirez: Good Riddance!
The hardest part of this saga to swallow isn't that we had to give up so much to give away a future Hall of Fame slugger still in the tail-end of his prime (for free, mind you), but how quickly everything erupted. Within one month Manny went from fan-favorite, just Manny Being Manny, to a senior citizen abuser (which we overlooked), to the scourge of the Earth and the biggest...
Manny being Manny: Los Angeles Edition
Well just as we all thought the trade rumors were dead and the Marlins weren't going to be able to start another quest at buying a World Series, Manny gets traded. Ramirez will join my former Tribe veteran Casey Blake in LA. The Red Sox moved him in a three team trade involving the Dodgers and the Priate....

Phillies back atop the NL East
Rumors of a Chase Utley injury are greatly exaggerated. Utley hit a homer for the second day in a row and the Phillies got a strong outing from Jamie Moyer to lead them to a 8-5 victory over the Nationals. It was their fourth straight win, and with the Marlins beating the Mets today, it moves the Phillies back into first place in the NL East by a half game.
Utley hit a two run...
