Octavio Dotel has reached a preliminary agreement with the Kansas City Royals for one-year worth about $5 million. The reliever missed most of the last 1 1/2 seasons with the New York Yankees due to an elbow surgery. The Royals organization saw him pitch down in the Dominican Republic last week and they were very impressed with his recovery. They expect him to come in and close out games at the end.
