The injury news just keeps getting worse for the Mets New York Mets . One day after outfielder Fernando Tatis was lost for the season due to a separated shoulder, Jerry Manuel expressed doubt about 38-year-old second baseman Damion Easley Damion Easley 's chances of returning by the end of the regular season because of a strained quadriceps.

Easley, who suffered the injury last Saturday in Game 1 of a doubleheader with the Braves, is out at least a week and is so sore that he might not make it back even if the reeling Mets rally to make the playoffs. "I want to be healthy, but that's not the reality now," Easley told reporters here this afternoon.

Tatis out for season

Following Tuesday's 1-0 loss to the Nationals, Mets manager Jerry Manuel confirmed the worst: Fernando Tatis is out for the season.

Comeback Player of the Year....

There should be absolutely no question who the comeback player of the year is in the National League. It's a dam shame that his season had to an end two weeks early, giving his body up trying to keep a game scoreless that had no business being that tight. How ironic it is, that a blop hit by the pitcher which Tatis dove for would start a two out rally that would score the lone run...

Mets Notes: Tatis and other tidbits..............

Fernando Tatis left the game in the fifth inning with a separated shoulder. The Mets have now lost four of their last five games while Washington has now won seven straight home games against New York in September. The Mets' 3-4-5 hitters went 1-for-12 on Tuesday, falling to 1-23 in the series. For the second time this season, Mike Pelfrey was on the losing end of...

Getting rid of Castillo in the offseason??

The Mets are likely to take a huge financial hit this winter if they are able to trade Luis Castillo and his $25-million contract. But it's becoming more apparent that these two sides are heading for a divorce when this season is over, and the latest example came Tuesday when manager Jerry Manuel opted to start rookie Argenis Reyes over the three-time All-Star. Castillo was...

Nixon available, Easley has a tear....

With Fernando Tatis out for at least the rest of the regular season I believe the Mets could recall Trot Nixon, if they decided they needed another bench player. I was surprised that Nixon wasn't recalled at roster expansion but instead was placed on the 60 day DL. Veteran players are often given the choice of being released or placed on the 60 day when room is needed on the...

Unhappy Recap: Nationals 1 Mets 0

This is how the meltdown starts. First it was the bullpen, then the starting pitching, now the offense has gone completely in the tank, scoring 2 runs in 2 games against the Nationals.I'm not ready to give up on this season yet, but this is starting to look exactly like last year. No one can make the play, get the hit, or get the out that's needed to win a game. The Mets didn't...
