The Houston Astros are coming to town, which means the return of Ed Wade. Corey isn't a big fan of Wade, and believes his face resembles a scrotum; have to agree with you there Corey. Wade did both good and bad while in Philly, but since he never crafted a team that was able to make it to the playoffs his tenure as GM is considered flawed and unsuccessful. In September of 2007 the Astros reached out their hand to Ed and gave him the keys to the ignition of their franchise. He promptly began turning over the roster with trades for HGH-baby Miguel Tejada and closer Jose Valverde, shipped out Brad Lidge while collecting speedster Michael Bourn, signed Darin Erstad, Doug Brocail, Shawn Chacon, and anal plastic surgery boy Kaz Matsui, and cut old man Woody Williams and his bulky contract. Overall, it is clear that Ed Wade is trying to put his stamp on this organization in a short amount of time, whether his tactics flourish or not is yet to be determined. A quick glance over the acti...

  • Just look at that picture, his face is legitimately a shaved nutsack.
  • Another game and still no Jimmy Rollins. This injury is worse than they orginially made it out to be, but then again that's how the Phillies operate.

Hack-o-matic Chooch Ruiz is batting 2nd. Why? There's no good reason, Charlie likes to experiment in April because apparently this month doesn't matter in the standings.

Do my eyes deceive me?

It's roughly 9:30pm Eastern time and the Phillies/Astros game is heading into the bottom of the 9th with the Phils down 3-nuttin'. I ponder turning off the tv and catching some early z's, but I resist the temptation of sleep and decide to stick around to watch the finale of this lousy game. It has been a lousy game to this point too, the Phils offense is nonexistent,...

A Rough Week for the Phils

As if there weren't enough questions about the makeup of the Phillies, they were dealt two huge blows this week to their stellar offense. In the process, their defense has taken a hit, too. Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino, the top of the Philadelphia order, were both lost to leg injuries once again throwing a wrench into the start of a shaky season. The Phils 6-5 loss...

The Salsa's Gone Bad

Jose "The Salsa" Valverde blew the save for the Houston Astros Tuesday night against the Phillies, surrendering four earned runs on 3 hits and a walk, while only making one out in the bottom of the 9th. He struck out two batters - Geoff Jenkins, however, reached on base on a passed ball after he struck out. Jenkins would be the winning run on a double by new Philadelphia...

Phillies score 4 in the 9th to shock Astros

Adam Eaton put together a pretty good start, but it looked like it was going to go to waste until the Phillies bats came alive in the 9th inning. Down 3-0 heading into the bottom of the 9th, the Phillies, led by homers by Chris Snelling and Mr. Clutch Pat Burrell, forged out 4 runs off of Astros closer Jose Valverde to secure a 4-3 victory. Snelling led off the inning with a homer...

Phils beat Astros in wild comeback

"PHILADELPHIA -- Geoff Jenkins helped win a game for the Phillies by striking out in a wild 4-3 decision over the Astros on Tuesday night. The right-fielder reached first when the ball got past Brad Ausmus in the ninth inning. Pedro Feliz then doubled into the left-field corner, his third hit of the game, and Jenkins raced around from first and was called safe on a close play...

Top 10 Reasons to be Pissed

I decided to kick it David Letterman style here at WSBGM's today with a Top 10 Reasons to be Pissed Off About Yesterday's Disgusting Loss... #10 - Charlie Manuel may have been shorthanded with both Shane Victorino and Jimmy Rollins unavailable to leadoff, but sticking Geoff Jenkins in the 1-hole neither cute nor intelligent, it was stupid. #9 - The Pat Burrell Rule (whereas...

Utley's error gives Cubs tainted win

The Cubs needed a blown call by an umpire to narrowly avoid getting swept by the Phillies. The Cubs had a runners on first and second in a game that was tied in the 10th inning when Carlos Zambrano, who was pinch hitting because the Cubs ran out of hitters, hit a grounder that looked like a sure double play to shortstop Eric Bruntlett. Bruntlett flipped the ball to Chase Utley at...
