Monday May 26, 2008 Aaron Cook COL @ Jamie Moyer PHI After six dynamite starts from Aaron Cook, we got back to back ten hit disastrous outings from the Rockies pitcher. I can forgive the crushing at the hands of the D-Backs, they're an amazing team this season. But the Giants? Aaron, what the heck is wrong with you? Look for him to bounce back against Philly this week, especially since opposing pitcher Jamie Moyer has never beaten the Rockies at any point of his career. Cook is a good innings eating pitcher and seems to finally be in the midst of his breakout season that has been expected of him for the past three seasons. Ben Sheets MIL @ Jason Bergmann WAS Seven scoreless innings and the goddamn Nationals can't score one run for poor Jason Bergmann. Bergmann should be celebrating back to back wins right now, and any pre-season predictions about the Nationals being an improved team this season are out the window. Take a shot on Bergmann in deeper leagues anyway, he is pitching well despite the fact that he gets nothing for it. The Brewers aren't getting much done either and karma owes Jason Bergmann a win.

Good Job

The Mariners' have something special in right-handed-pitcher Jamie Moyer. Moyer last night pitched against the Blue Jays allowing only one run in six innings pitched. Did I mention he got the win, but not only did he get the win he got his 131st career win which makes him the franchises all-time win ...

Rockies Work on Starting Rotation

The Rockies are looking to have a healthy starting rotation for the 2006 season. In 2005 the injuries of Jason Jennings and Aaron Cook hurt us and we don't want to be in that position again. We finished last in the American League West last season because we couldn't hold it together without our stro...

Phils Starters Crap the Bed

The Phillies starting pitchers have put a 2-spot on the scoreboard in the 1st inning of all 3 games so far this season. That's a very bad pattern to fall into. Brett Myers, Jamie Moyer, and Joe Blanton did nothing to help the Phils win. And if not for a wild Rick Ankielesque Braves bullpen meltdown the Phils would be staring at 0-3 in the face on the way to Colorado. Phillies...

The 2008 Rotation is Set

Like the title says. It turns out that the recent injuries to Aaron Cook, Jason Hirsh, and Rodrigo Lopez may have been a blessing in disguise. The Diamondbacks are starting to run away with the division, and while the Rockies...

Part of a Well-Balanced Ballclub

Okay, I get it. I see what the Braves are going after here. First, they’re clubbing home runs. Three on Sunday against Brett Myers, and two again on Tuesday afternoon against ‘crafty’ (read: old) Jamie Moyer. The Braves are trying to make a point. ‘We’ve got a bit of power,’ they’re saying. ‘Don’t sell short the power.‘...

A Post About Posts

Jesus Montero, people! We’re in the wake of the biggest game in the history of baseball (which would have been bigger in the playoffs) and I have to stop writing my post about the movie Me, Myself & Irene to remind you all of the oath you took: By posting comments, opinions or questions at Another Cubs Blog, you, the poster, agree to ask yourself one question before hitting...

Phils, Hamels’ Left Arm Head to Colorado

Nothing says baseball like Denver in April. The Phils head to Denver looking to find some offensive consistency and to see what kind of zip Cole Hamels has in his left arm. It's hard to call an April game a big game, but since our season lives and dies by Hamels left arm, I'd say tomorrow is pretty important, win or lose. I'll be looking at his fastball velocity more...
