As Spring Training games kick off, I look around the Major Leagues for players to root for in 2009. Former White Sox players Joe Crede and Ken Griffey Jr. were easy choices, and will hopefully succeed in '09, along with the rest of my list of players to root for during the upcoming baseball season. Who are the players that are not on your favorite team that you will be rooting for in 2009? Getty Images

  • Frank Thomas (If someone picks him up) 1 OF ONLY A FEW 500+ HR HITTERS THAT DID NOT TAKE STEROIDS.
Ken Griffey (The other 500+ HR HITTER THAT ALSO DID NOT TAKE STEROIDS)
Ichiro (Hoping he gets another year of 200+ hits)
    Chipper Jones
Rickey Henderson (He still wants to play.... He has never officially said he had retired)
  • Ken Griffey Jr. I agree that his story is something I want to see, especially since he knows that his days are numbered and returning to Seattle was good for him and his career..Dontrelle Willis is another story I want to hear about it is amazing it was just a few years ago that this guy was the talk of baseball after winning a World Series,And of Course Albert Pujols he has to be the face of Baseball now...
  • I will always be rooting for Griffey. I used to have at least 2 posters of him in my room as a kid. - BettorFan.com
  • Evan Longoria- Avoids the sophmore slump
Miguel Cabrera- That he embraces his talent and works hard to lose some weight
Kerry Wood- Becomes a GREAT closer
  • The Indians definitely need him
  • I'm rooting for..
