(AP Photo. Before today's game, Manny Acta daydreams about how nice it will be to have the rest of the summer off, and wonders whether he'd be allowed to board the team charter to NY after todays game. Reportedly, Manny got on that plane. Sources won't confirm or deny if he got off that plane.)
It's Always Something.
Rays 8, Nats 3 (Saturday): Jason Bergmann (single, single, homer, walk, homer) makes Manny pay on his way out the door in nightmare 6th; Colome, too. Zimmermann gets yanked early, deserved better.

Nationals Prepare for New Act(a)
Like everything else related to the Washington Nationals' front office, the situation with manager Manny Acta has been horribly mishandled. CNNSI and other sources are reporting that Acta will be fired, "perhaps as early as Monday." Everyone who has ever been asked has had only positive things to say about Acta. All the compliments are probably code for "he'...
Nationals to Fire Acta
FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the Nationals will fire manager Manny Acta and replace him with bench coach Jim Riggleman. Acta has been with the team since the 2007 season, and has done a fairly good job despite poor records. Third baseman Ryan Zimmerman is having a breakout year for the Nationals, hitting .315 with 11 home runs and a .391 on-base percentage...
What’s That Sucking Sound?

Neither coaches seem to know anything about anything...
Fireproof?
(AP Photo. Manny Acta would find it amusing if he gets canned in NYC sometime over the next three days, considering he'll be hired again in NYC sometime in the Fall.)
"I'm still the manager." (Manny Acta, via Nationals dot com, 6/16/2009)
Somehow, Manny Survived Monday.

Acta still in charge as Nats fly north
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. | Another day passed, another game came and went and Manny Acta was still the manager of the Washington Nationals. Nationals discover another way to lose
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. | By the time the ball clipped the inside of the third-base bag, sealing the Washington Nationals' 15th loss in 18 games, the foundation for a third straight blown lead against the Tampa Bay Rays had already been laid. There was the customary stuff: runners reaching third base with less than two outs and getting stuck there, walks turning into runs off gut...
Heat on Acta rises after report of firing
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. | It's uncertain for how long, but at least for now, Manny Acta is still the Washington Nationals' manager. FoxSports.com reported Saturday afternoon that the Nationals were planning to fire Acta and replace him with bench coach Jim Riggleman in the next several days, but Acta and Riggleman both said before the Nationals' game against the Tampa Bay...

Boras Pulling Out All the Tricks for Strasburg
Scott Boras has started to put on a show in an effort to pull some leverage out of his hat for Stephen Strasburg’s contract.
Boras is wisely positioning the righty from San Diego State as the
next best thing since sliced bread—or Mark Prior, for whom the
super-agent negotiated the current record deal for a draft pick of
$10.5 million in 2001.
But for the Nationals, is the...
Rays' rally deep-sixes Nats
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. | The Washington Nationals lost for the 44th time in 60 games on Saturday night, a stretch of futility almost as twistedly impressive in its variety as its length. The Nationals have lost games in which they've scored bunches of runs and failed to score any. They've dropped fly balls, booted grounders, thrown wild pitches, walked batters, blindly missed...
Nats activate Wells, send Bergmann down
Right-hander Kip Wells has been activated from the 15-day disabled list by the Washington Nationals, who optioned right-hander Jason Bergmann to Triple-A Syracuse.
