Gardenhire didn't win the Manager of the Year award, in fact he wasn't really close. He wasn't expected to however after the Tampa Bay Rays had a breakout season and were led by a somewhat new name, Joe Maddon.
Gardenhire placed second in the voting, and even tallied a first-place vote. For yet another season, when the hopes for the team around the nation were low, Gardy rallied his troops for another successful year.
