Broad St. Bias:
As you have all heard by now, Jimmy Rollins had some things to say about Philly fans on "The Best Damn Sports Show Period," which might be "The Worst Damn Sports Show Period," but that's a whole other article. JRol said Philly fans were "front runners," as he sat next to teammate Ryan Howard who looked to be getting more and more uncomfortable every minute. Then calling St. Louis fans more "encouraging," how they always support their team no matter what.
In Philly it's always been said that fans drive players out. When in most cases it's a players mouth that drives him out of town. What Jimmy said no matter how he meant it is just inexcusable. He of all people should know by now how Philly fans are. For him to turn his back on the fans because of some booing? In these situations, in this city, with these fans there is only one solution. Jimmy must go, we'd be better off, and hell he seems like he can't wait to leave.
After how this town embraced him last season during his MVP winning season it's hard to believe Jimmy feels this way. Soon some half hearted apology will be released, stating that the media blew his comments out of context. How he really meant it this way, in a less offensive way of course. How he loves Philly, loves the fans and alway had, that he was just misunderstood. Well before that apology comes out, I already have an answer for you Jimmy. No thanks, apology not accepted, go to St. Louis where you'll be cheered for going 0-5 and swinging at the first pitch 3 out of 5 at bats. Where they won't care if you run out a ground ball or not, and hell you can show up late all the time. Cause it'll be Jimmy being Jimmy in St. Louis. I got one better go to Oakland and you can be a hometown hero playing in front of thousands, wait hundreds, well maybe nobody but you'll be home! With absolutely no pressure, no expectations. It would be perfect for you.
So go away JRol, we don't want you anymore. You've worn out your welcome, you don't belong here. You don't deserve us. I have to thank you before you go however, cause you just made this town love a player like Chase Utley even more. Now we can give MVP chants to someone who REALLY deserves it.

Ryan Howard: Time to Worry?
Ryan Howard is pissing me off. He's considered a slugging firstbaseman; I consider him to be more slug-like, and I'm not just referring to his lack of speed. Howard is still relatively new to the Majors, this being only his 3rd full season, and it's becoming evident that he's prone to a sluggish start. No excuses, this type of performance is just plain ridiculous...

Baseball Card Companies Trying to Profit From Dead Guys' Hair
As some of you may remember, I went through a baseball card kick after a trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown a few summers back. Many of the "chase" cards like a piece of Ryan Howard's autographed bat seemed like cool things to have. Baseball card companies didn't stop with bats, ...

Phillies = First Place, Ryan Howard = MVP
The Phillies are back where they belong. Thanks to a huge day at the plate by Ryan Howard, the Phillies beat the Braves 8-7, and, with the Mets losing again, vaulted back into first place in the NL East. The Phillies have now won 5 games in a row while the Mets have now lost 4 of their last 5. Seems a lot like 2007, doesn't it?

Moves Magazine Super Bowl Party
On Wednesday night the Yardbarker crew worked its first red carpet of Super Bowl 2009. The Moves Magazine party, hosted by Reggie Bush and Yardbarker Ray Lewis, was the first big event of the long weekend, and plenty of stars came out to get the party started. Bush was, of course, accompanied by his girlfriend, Kim Kardashian, as well as her mother, Kris Jenner. Michael Strahan...

Fantasy Toss Up: Speed Vs. Power
Today I'm taking a look at which peripheral stat is more productive to focus on come draft day, speed or power. To do so I've captured the top 40 Base Swipers and the top 40 Mashers of the 2008 season and ran a regression on their SB and HR totals in comparison to the three other roto categories (R, RBI and BA).RunsThe base stealers are all over the board here. Some of the...
MLB Teams Cashing In Without Arbitration
In just about 16 days, pitchers and catchers will be reporting in the MLB. However, with all of the excitement of a new season coming to a head, many players are cashing in with their respective ball clubs. Losing ways hurting Burrell at the ballot box
Second baseman Chase Utley is still baseball's leading vote-getter for the All-Star Game, but another deserving candidate, Pat Burrell, has fallen out of the running. Chicks Dig Howard's Long Balls
Back in the day Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine did a commercial for ESPN declaring- "Chicks dig the long ball". The man hitting the homeruns was the chemically enhanced Mark McGwire and the chick was a then babe, now cougar Heather Locklear. Ryan Howard is accustomed to this female viewpoint, as ...
