Over the years, I’ve had the good fortune to interact with a number of celebrities, and the harder I’ve tried to distinguish myself as witty and/or clever, the worse it’s gone. Here are some of the stupid things I’ve said over the years:
To Sen. John Kerry, when I was 15: “I think you’re doing a really good job!”
To alt-rocker Juliana Hatfield, who was drinking water: “Better be sure to hydrate properly.”
To Pulitzer Prize-winning author Richard Russo: “Have you ever been to Schooner Wharf bar in Key West? Have you met Harry?”
To Catch-22 author Joseph Heller: “You’re my favorite writer!!!!”
To Dilbert creator Scott Adams: “What’s your shoe size?”
To Barenaked Ladies...
