Hot Winter Already Brewing

We're not finished with the World Series yet, and it seems like just about everyone outside of Detroit and St. Louis is eager to find out what big moves will be made this offseason. In a free-agent market that doesn't exactly fit the billing of "spectacular", teams are going to be hard-pressed to find the one unit necessary to build the dream team that will bring home a 2007 championship.

I didn't know Buehrle was a free agent either. I think I'd rather have him than Zito or Schmidt (because of age difference). He's not nearly as bad as he was last year so he might come at a discount.

I like your comments about Meche. For those interested in fantasy, he is a great end of the draft/free agent pickup. You just need to know when to start him. He was great at home last year with oppenents hitting .235 against him and averaging 1 SO an inning. Thats top tier performance. Just dont start him on the road because he pitches like, well the Gil Meche you picked up with your last pick of the draft. I would think that pitcher friendly Shea would provide similar benefits to Safeco. A move to the NL should also help his numbers. He would be a great value pick for the Mets.

Jamie Moyer is a southpaw. Has been his whole career. ;)

Statuscrow, thanks for the heads up.

FYI--
Chisox have a 9.5mil option on Buehrle. I don't think its too likely they choose the $1mil buyout to make him a FA.
