Despite hitting .317 this spring and being able to play almost every position, the Rangers are reported to have released Frank Catalanotto to make room for outfielder Andruw Jones. The Mets have been rumored to be interested in the super sub for quite sometime. While he's another left handed hitter he's a much better option then Marlon Anderson. The 34 y/o has spent most of the last few years playing 1B and the corner outfield but does have major league experience at 3B, 2B and SS. He is a lifetime .292 hitter with a slg. pct. of .449. The Long Island native is familiar with the NY atmosphere and is known as a grinder type of player....The Rangers have told Frank Catalanotto that he will not be on the Opening Day roster. It's official. Andruw Jones is on the team. source TR Sullivan

I Can't Believe you Get Paid for this, Terrence
In one of the least surprising developments in Atlanta sports history, Terrence Moore thinks the Braves should keep Andruw Jones. Does he examine Jones's record to give us hope that his disastrous 2007 was a fluke? Does he attempt to justify making a long-term commitment to a guy who doesn't pay so m...

Where would Evans room come from....
It's a little premature to discuss this, but on a slow news day as the team wraps up spring training it should be an interesting week for Nick Evans. After hitting .270 with 12 RBIs, 3 HRs, 2 triples and 5 doubles ( slg. pct. .514) Evans was rewarded by making the team. However, that position is only temporary as the Mets will need the roster spot on April 11 th for the fifth...
Your 2009 Opening Day roster...
The Mets have made it official with the final cuts of the spring, the Mets have finalized their 25 man roster. The Mets sent down Bobby Kielty and Elmer Dessens while placing Fernando Nieve on waivers. As I've said before Kielty should have gotten a spot but as long as Anderson is on a short rope there's no harm in doing it this way. Nieve will have to clear waivers and accept...

Adios Spring Training
The Sports Illustrated Baseball Preview is out and they have selected the Mets as the favorites to win the 2009 World Series. This is a promising thought considering that the last two years have been abysmal for the organization and its fans. I think the Mets have an awesome chance at winning the World Series and making the last few years seem like ancient history. That being said...
