I mean, it's not as if a castoff from two organizations that were desperate for any sort of farm talent was going to be a starting pitcher that could stop any sort of bleeding. It's not as if a team that loses Sabathia and Sheets and replaces that with Braden Looper was going to be a recipe for pitching success. It's not as if Jeff Suppan's suck wasn't going to keep growing. It's not as if Chris Capuano brought anything to the table. It's not as if Manny Parra lost his ****. It's not as if all the starter issues was going to drain the bullpen of their skills. It's not as if he's going to get another pitching coach job in the bigs either. But hey, we live in a world where somebody's got to take the fall for the slump. So Bill Castro's gone. What does this mean? This probably isn't going to work like the Ned Yost September purge. Billy Hall's been designated for assignment. J.J. Hardy is in AAA. The Mighty Mustache is scrambling. Usually when this happens, it's too little too late.

Would Bill Hall Fit in Seattle?

The Brewers released utility man Bill Hall yesterday, as well as calling up Alcides Escobar and demoting JJ Hardy to the minor leagues.  So, Bill Hall appears to be there for the taking now, but would he be a good fit with the Mariners? Well, let’s see. Hall was a 4.9 win player just a few [...]

Brewers Fire Damn Near Everybody But The Manager

Via David Pinto, Milwaukee has fired pitching coach Bill Castro and replaced him with the pitching coach from AAA Nashville, Chris Bosio. This comes on the heels of a 13-6 blowout at the hands of the Padres, the second-worst offensive club in the National League (measured by runs scored). I find myself agreeing with David in that it's hard to see how good any pitching coach could...

Lots of Brewers news this Wednesday morning. Here's the latest: MLB.com's Adam McCalvy reports that the Brewers fired pitching coach Bill Castro and demoted J.J. Hardy to Triple A. The Alcides Escobar era begins in Milwaukee. In a different article, McCalvy writes that the Brewers are still looking for a starter on the waiver wire, though no top arms are available.

Why My Marriage To The Brewers Needs Couples' Therapy

There was a time when I could watch my beloved Milwaukee Brewers on television and my friends didn’t have to worry about my personal well-being or the safety of things in my house that were within arm’s reach.   There was a time when I opened my morning newspaper with exhilaration, anticipation and glee, instead of dread, a grimace and a now-all-too-common choking...

Full count: Good enough

Manny Parra is 5-0 in seven starts since being recalled from Class AAA Nashville, but he hasn't dominated, allowing fewer than eight hits in a start just twice. Padres Take Hot Streak To Milwaukee

The San Diego Padres (47-66) are playing some of their best baseball of the season, and look to continue that trend tonight in Milwaukee, taking on the Brewers (55-56). The Padres, winners of three of their last four games, are faster and more powerful than they were three months ago. SS Everth Cabrera leads the way with speed on the base paths, and a flashy glove at short. New...
