Found August 17, 2008 on Another Cubs Blog:
No matter what kind of team Atlanta is fielding, going down there, and Florida as well, is never an easy trip. The Cubs have sucked ass in Florida for the last several years. In fact, they hadn't won in Miami since 2005. Coming of a 3-game sweep in Atlanta, the Cubs were riding an 8-game winning streak into Florida. It looked like it would be snapped before Daryle Ward's pinch hit 3-run home run in the 9th that gave them the win at 6-5. They struggled to get runners in yesterday and lost and today looked to be much the same as last night until the 7th inning. The Cubs put 8 runs on the board erasing a small 2-0 Marlins lead and the cubs went on to win 9-2. The Cubs took 5 of 6 on the trip. A month ago the Cubs were 21-30 on the road and it appeared to be perhaps the team's biggest issue going down the stretch considering their September schedule, which is mostly away from Chicago. 9 game road winning streaks can turn things around and the Cubs are now 31-31 on the road. With how much this team has dominated at home, that's more than you need to be able to do away from home to be successful. After the off day tomorrow, the Cubs begin a 6-game home stand against the Reds and Nationals, 2 of the worst teams in the league. They then travel to Pittsburgh for 3 and play a Pirates team without Nady, Marte and Bay. They then go home for 7, 4 against Philly and 3 against Houston. The first weekend of September they head to Cincy for 3. Over the next 22 games, up through September 7th, the Cubs only play one decent team and they get them at home. They can and should open up a huge lead in this division.

Ward-o-saurus Walks the Earth Again

In one of those magic moments that seem to happen during every team's playoff run, Daryle Ward went from one of the Cubs 2008 goats to Northside hero. His three-run homer in the top of the ninth was good for a .647 WPA, which seems to be the biggest hit of the Cubs season. Before that astonishing at-bat, Ward was 0 for his last 10, 4 for his last 29, and 4 for 40...

D-Ward wins it in the 9th

Daryle Ward hasn't done much all season for the Cubs, but that's forgotten about tonight. Carlos Zambrano struggled through 6 innings, or I should say struggled through the 2nd and 3rd inning in which he gave up 5 runs, but was pretty good the rest of the night. Still, his 2nd bad start in a row and he was in line to get the loss. The Cubs took an early 1-0 lead in the...

NL East Round Up: Phillies hold on by a thread, Fish Flounder and Everyone else loses....

The Phillies came into last night trailing by 1 game in the National League East. They Started the ageless one, Jamie Moyer against San Diego and Greg Maddux. This had to be one of the oldest pitching matchups in major League History. Each dueled to the 7th as Maddux caved in giving up a Homer to Pat "The Bat" Burrell. Phillies Won 1-0. It was a different story in Marlin...
