The BearDown:
Yankee Ace Chien Ming Wang is out indefinately. Some accounts say 4-6 weeks, others speculating it could be a season ender. So what do the Yankees do? A couple thoughts on what they will do to fill the Wang-less gap.

With no Tribe game to discuss, I thought it would be an opportune time to open a forum regarding two specific things that occurred yesterday; both making me shake my head in disbelief during more than one occasion.
First, I find it absolutely hysterical (and a bit sad, actually) that there is a sudden outcry against interleague baseball because the ace starting pitcher of the...
Other Rules That Hank Would Like To See Changed
Cinnamon Wang hurts himself on a non-contact trip around the bases and now Hank comes out and practically demands the National League change their rules to prevent American League pitchers from getting hurt. Why stop there Hank? Why not just amend every rule as you see fit? Here I've thrown together some goodies for you to bring up to Bud Selig that should help the Yankees this season.
State of Major League Baseball - 2008
What happens when you get 30 media heavies together for a roundtable? Ask a few that came... Ken Rosenthal, Jerry Crasnick, Chuck Armstrong, King Kaufman, Tim Marchman, Ken Davidoff, Dayn Perry, Peter Abraham, Andrew Zimbalist... etc.... etc.
Return of the Ice Cream
Mike Mussina made a deal with Joe Girardi that if he got 10 wins the ice cream could return to the clubhouse. Moose won that 10th game when he was on the road and now that the Yankees are back home he can enjoy. Once he reaches 12 wins the doughnuts return and at 15 the candy comes back.
Morgan Ensberg, Joining the Farm
With all of this talk regarding the Indians and the potential to be the future owners of former members of the New York Yankees, I present to you the ironically-timed announcement from the Indians Media Relations department:
The Cleveland Indians announced they have signed 3B MORGAN ENSBERG to a minor league contract and assigned him to the AAA Buffalo Bisons. Ensberg, 32, played...
Injury bug chomps down harder on the Tribe
You've heard the expression 'no news is good news.'
Well today there's plenty of news about the Tribe. Injury news.
MLB.com's Anthony Castrovince is reporting it all on his blog tonight.
First up: Travis Hafner is going to see the Kevorkian of shoulder doctors - Dr. James Andrews.
The name alone is scary.
But, according to Castrovince, the Tribe...
So, About Byrd's Trade Value…
"It just didn't happen for us," [Indians pitcher Paul] Byrd said.
Us, Paul? Not to point fingers, but Byrd has now given up 10 earned runs over the past two outings - totalling seven innings pitched. On a team that has been plagued by a lack of offense and the occasional bullpen meltdown, you simply cannot afford your starting pitcher to allow five earned runs...
The Brain Leak
As summer switches into high gear and temperatures across the country begin to rise, The Leak is creating new and innovative ways to keep you indoors and save you from those nasty CO2 emissions, twilight dinners with the in-laws and the neighborhood Cougar who simply should not be wearing that skimpy of a bathing suit.
Pete Rose told Alex Rodriguez to sign with the Red Sox
This is interesting, Alex Rodriguez and Pete Rose are very good friends according to ESPN. Well actually, it's not THAT interesting because you would expect two great hitters to eventually meet and hit it off, regardless of if one of them is banned from baseball for life.
The interesting part is that Pete Rose told A-Rod through a series of text messages that he should sign...
Yanks Should Turn To Burnett
The Toronto Star is calling pitcher A.J. Burnett "classless" today. In other words, looks like the Yanks have found an available pitcher!
Actually, the news that Burnett - who can opt out of his contract at season's end - is on the trade market is not exactly breaking news. A.J. is 26-22 in 2+ injury-plagued seasons after signing a five-year, $55 million contract with...

The Yankees Wang has been shelved
We've never heard of a shelved Wang, but it sounds god awful. Best of luck to the Yanks as they begin to play without their Wang. It's certainly hard to imagine any more classic quotes coming from Hank without having...
Buyers or Sellers?
I can't help but feel a bit perplexed by our current situation.
The standings say the Indians are 5.5 games out of first place.? They also indicate that the Central is a very winnable division ? perhaps the softest in baseball this year.? Furthermore, the Tribe has won its last two series and will finish this [...]
‘Lil Stein’s Constructive Criticism For The Senior Circuit
The day after losing Chien-Ming Wang to a torn ankle tendon, leave it to genetic lottery winner Hank Steinbrenner to insist there's something improper about the National League's refusal to employ the designated hitter. From the AP :
"My only message is simple. The National League needs to join the 21st century," Steinbrenner said in [...]
