Now that teams know they won't need to give up a draft pick, suitors are starting to line up for Pat Burrell. Reports are the Angels, Mariners, and Giants all have interest in the 32 year-old free agent. All three of these teams could use a bat like Burrell, but the best fit might be the Giants. Burrell is originally from Northern California, and it would guarantee he would be the everyday leftfielder. Burrell has stated numerous times that he doesn't have a desire to DH and in the American League, that's where he'd most likely play. Should this happen Burrell would join former Phillie Aaron Rowand as the Giants would have two-thirds of the Phillies 2007 outfield. For those of you who don't know, the days of Pat Burrell patrolling left field for the Phillies are all but over.

Replacing Pat Burrell

There's been a lot of talk lately about how slow free-agency has been. It certainly does seem to be slow, and of course, there has to be speculation as to why. Some are citing the economy of course, but others, including unnamed general managers, are speculating that the......

Rumor: PTB Is House Shopping in San Diego

Speaking with the WIP morning show, Randy Miller reported that he has heard that Pat Burrell and his wife have been looking at houses in the San Diego area. Now, the Padres are a dreadfully bad team, or at least they were last year, in a big park, and there are no rumors to the effect that PTB ...

Why the Phils Didn't Offer Arbitration to Burrell or Moyer

I was as surprised as anyone that the Phillies declined to offer arbitration to Pat Burrell and Jamie Moyer. If they had, and the players had signed with another team, the Phillies would have received 2 high draft picks, as they did with Aaron Rowand last year. I'm of the opinion that the ...

No Arbitration- Right or Wrong

Ruben Amaro just made his first big decision as newly appointed Phillies GM in not offering either Type A free agents Pat Burrell or Jamie Moyer arbitration. We all suspected Burrell was going bye-bye anyway, but not offering him arbitration is simply retarded in my opinion. Click on the URL to vote in the poll with whether you think it was right or wrong to not offer...

Curious Strategy

As it turns out, the Phillies, last evening, elected to decline arbitration offers to both Pat Burrell and Jamie Moyer. Unless of course, the arbitration papers got lost in the mail... There are certainly arguments to be made against offering Burrell arbitration. There's......

Phillies Don't Offer Arb. to Burrell and Moyer

Both Burrell and Moyer are Type A free agents, which means that if the Phillies had offered one or both arbitration and either declined, they would have been given two draft picks as compensation. The risk is that a panel of arbitrators will decide how much of payroll is dedicated to one or two players if they accept, and the Phillies' front office may think they can do better than...

Phillies decline arbitration, writer briefly panics

So yesterday, as you may have read, the Phillies declined arbitration on their four free agents, Tom Gordon, Rudy Seanez, Jamie Moyer, and Pat Burrell. No surprise on the first two, as the Phillies had no real desires to keep those two, and fans had no real attachment to them. But Moyer and Burrella??that got [...]
