Stick with me, I'm going somewhere with this.

  • Cust's biggest problem was that the NL doesn't have a DH. Otherwise, he probably would have been in a lineup 5 years ago. David Ortiz and Travis Hafner may have had problems playing 162 games in the field as well.
  • That's true, his fielding isn't all that. The Orioles & A's passed up on him in the past as well as the NL clubs though.
  • That's true, but up until two weeks ago, Cust had a really unfair negative rap going against him. He was never given a shot. 73 AB's in 2003? That's not enough time to prove yourself.

I don't know what the A's are going to do with him when Piazza comes back if he's still hitting well. Again, the Jack Cust dillemma. There's never a place to put this guy.
  • I don't know about Cust being the next Howard, but I did pick him up to fill a utl. spot on my fantasy team. And from the looks of it Howard may just be a one season wonder, with the leg slowing him down this year. Big Howard better get in shape.

What's inside Antonio Alfonseca stomach?

I'm going to assume that no human being ? especially a professional athlete ? can be as out of shape as Antonio Alfonseca looks this year. Wow, got to be a couple of chicken heads at least, or maybe he is using his stomach as an incubator.
