JD Drew has gotten the distinction of being named the AL's Player Of The Month for June. In 26 games, Drew hit .337 (31-for-92) with 12 HR and 29 RBI. He also had an MLB-best .848 slugging percentage. So this is what the Sox paid all the money for huh? Touche Theo Epstein, touche.

The first-place Pawtucket Red Sox will be sending five players to this year's International League All-Star Game. The game will take place on July 16th in Louisville, KY and this is the first time ever that the Triple-A PawSox have had more than three All-Stars in a season. Impressive. Rays Continue to Pour it on the Sox.

Matt Garza pitched well yet again for the Tampa Bay Rays, who now lead the Red Sox by 2.5 games in the AL East. And yet again, Tim Wakefield received the tough loss. It has become a constant trend to see Wake get no run support by his Boston teammates. Most of the Red Sox hitters seemed lost up at the dish tonight, none more evident than one at bat from J.D. Drew. With one out and...

Rick Ankiel Mania and the "Other" Comeback Story

I just finished watching my third straight Mets/Cardinals game at Busch. And instead of spewing unfiltered venom all over the keyboard after another absolutely brutal Mets loss, I'm going to say nice things about the Cardinals. Specifically, I'm going to talk about my new man crush on Rick Ankiel (it's part of my therapy). You know how as a fan, even a fairly insane...

My Top 5 Red Sox players

In my opinion the Red Sox have had there ups and downs but they still have some great players. My Red Sox top 5 players: 5. Jacoby Ellsbury. Although he is going through a slump of no hitting I think he might be coming out of it. Last night he had a triple and double. He might also be a contender for the center field gold glove. 4. Jason Varitek. His hitting might not be great at...

Wednesday Cardinals Whimsy

There have been a few bugs here at Bugs & Cranks lately, so I am going to put abbreviated versions of posts I would've done earlier in the week into one delightful post today.  Sort of like when you put a kink in a garden hose and all the water comes flooding out at once.  [...]

Former Red Sox GM Duquette in hot water for selling 2004 World Series tix, overlooks selling them to get laid

Dan Duquette is making news again for selling 2004 World Series tickets to gain a better playing facility for his minor league team. In an era of retreads in sports management, there are reasons why guys like this don't get hired again.

Sanchez Okay After Liner

The Mets had a scare last night against the Cardinals when hard-luck relief pitcher Duaner Sanchez took a line drive off his left knee. With two outs in the eighth inning, Yadier Molinahit a come-backer that ricocheted off Sanchez's knee toward third base. David Wright fielded the ball, retiring Molina at first, while Sanchez, unable to get up, laid on the ground in pain. ...

Mike Timlin to be activated from the DL

Mike Timlin is going to join the team at Yankee Stadium today and be activated off the disabled-list. Timlin rocked a 7.06 ERA in 21.2 innings pitched so far this year until he was shelved with tendinitis in his knee on June 17th. Chris Smith is the odd man out and will be sent back to Pawtucket to make room for Mike.

Give up on Mulder already

I don't get it...I know we pay Mark (the has-been) Mulder a lot to rehab for years...but cut the losses already!

Red Sox Fans Aren't Having Fun In Tampa This Week

Thanks to reader TE for the tip and Red Sox Monster for finding the video for this morning. NESN decided to show some Sawx fans in the stands at the Trop near the end of last night's game and it seems they timed it perfectly....That guy has a little Kerry Wood in him doesn't he? I know you're not having fun as of late Red Sox fans, but calm down....it's only July...

History in St. Looey!

Feliciano Turns In A Relief Performance For the AgesST. LOUIS, Mo.- When asked about the greatest relief performance in the history of baseball, many historians will recall a July afternoon in 1917.That day, a young, short-tempered Babe Ruth- at the time a starting pitcher for the Boston Red Sox- engaged umpire Brick Owens in a heated argument after walking the first batter of the...

Ray Pride Parade

The Rays are good young team. That's it. They do not have the where-with-all to get the Holiest of Holies.
