A few weeks ago, some of you will no doubt be aware that I did a guest post on River Ave Blues arguing that Derek Jeter should walk away with the MVP. No disrespect to Jeter, who is still having an amazing season and an even more amazing road trip, but I need to change my vote. I have seen the light, and the light is Joe Mauer. How have I seen the light? Mauer's average, .383, is higher than Mark Teixeira's on-base-percentage. That means that Joe Mauer is getting a greater percentage ...

    Joe Mauer is a superb athlete but isn't it about that time for Derek Jeter to get an award he so much deserves at least once in his career? I do.

    I'm sorry but there is no question that if the season ends today, Mauer is MVP. He is hitting .383 and has 25 homers despite missing all of May. For any player, that is amazing but through in the fact that he's a CATCHER and it's a lock. He's having a historic season.

    Jeter should have won it in 2006, when the award ironically went to Justin Morneau, Mauer's teammate.
