All Star Voting ended last night and the selection show will be on Sunday at 2 P.M on TBS. Leading the AL outfield in fan votes are Manny Ramirez, Ichrio Suzuki and Josh Hamilton. After reading a Newsday article from last week and listening to Michael Kay advocating for Johnny Damon to make the team, I'm going to have a disagree. While the former Royal is having a great season, there is a current Royals outfielder who I feel is more deserving than the two-time All Star. Player A: .320 AVG (T-6th in the AL), 6 home runs, 37 RBI, 49 runs, .387 OBP, .469 slugging, 13 stolen bases, has missed 5 games, earning $13 million Player B: .323 AVG (T-2nd in the AL), 9 home runs, 42 RBI, 37 runs, .382 OBP, .496 slugging, 6 stolen bases, has missed 14 games, earning $2.5 million Player A is Yankee outfielder Johnny Damon and Player B is Royals outfielder David DeJesus. Damon has two factors going for him: 1) the game is going to be played at Yankee Stadium, and 2) AL skipper Terry Francona is his former manager. He is also having a much better first half than last season where he hit .245 with 5 homeruns, 27 RBI and a .339 OBP. I could also argue that Milton Bradley, Carlos Quentin and J.D. Drew are better candidates as well. We all know Damon has been battling through a sore left arch but DeJesus has been fighting through a sore ribcage. Like Damon, the fourth round pick out of Rutgers is the team's lead off hitter. The 28-year-old lefty has committed 0 errors this season and has been very consistent against his division rivals. He is hitting .462 vs. the White Sox, .333 vs. the Indians and .385 vs. The Twins. On the flip side Damon is hitting .125 vs. the Red Sox and .143 .vs. the Rays. DeJesus over his past 14 games is hitting .404 with 14 RBI. The 6-foot left fielder has a .320 average at home and .313 on the road. How is he owned in only 60% of ESPN fantasy leagues? In the month of June he hit .361, with 19 RBI and 19 runs scored. Last night he began July with 3 hits including a homerun. He is currently riding a 14-game hitting streak , hitting .463 with RISP and .345 with RISP and 2 outs. With smaller market teams playing much better this season, it's time to give their key contributors the credit they deserve. "I know I've gone out and established myself in this game again. I think that's what matters." Damon said. I couldn't disagree more.

Cynthia Finds Love Letter From A-Rod To Madonna

Oops. I'm thinking if you're still married to one woman, and are writing love letters to another woman, you may want to give it to the other woman so it's not sitting around in a drawer in your home so it's easy FOR YOUR WIFE TO FIND. Duh. Cynthia Rodriguez, who is currently staying with Lenny Kravitz (who she may or may not be having an affair with), has left...

Alex Rodriguez and Cynthia Rodriguez have separated

Only a day after rumors ran rampant about Alex Rodriguez and Madonna, the NY Daily News has reported that A-Rod and his wife have separated. Gee, they always seemed like such a happy couple; where did these kids go wrong?! On an additional note, if they DO end up getting divorced.. Cynthia could possibly be the richest ex-baseball wife in history (beating out Michael Jordan&...

How Crazy Is Hank? Every day it seems less and less.

Hank: 'IT'S GETTING RIDICULOUS' YANKEES OWNER BLAMES 'OUTSIDE DISTRACTIONS' FOR OFFENSIVE WOES With Alex Rodriguez's budding friendship with Madonna making headlines, New York Yankees owner Hank Steinbrenner is hinting that "outside distractions" are causing the team's offense to break his heart. Steinbrenner told The Associated Press today...

Royals' Dilemma Might Force MLB's Hand

"Well that's great," seethed Hall of Famer George Brett, a former Royals great and current team Vice President. "I guess gratitude and loyalty went out with wearing your stirrups high. Doesn't he know this franchise was built for him?"

Billy Butler showing pop after recall

A month of playing in the Pacific Coast League has paid early returns for the Kansas City Royals and DH Billy Butler. Butler played 26 games for the Omaha Royals hitting .337/.417/.564 with 5 home runs during his stint in the minors. Since his return Butler is 6-for-14 with a home run.

Bad Signings by Brian Cashman

Brian Cashman's contract with the Yankees will expire at the end of the 2008 season. As we look back at his tenure as general manager, we see that Cashman has been a bad general manager. Here are the bad signings by Brian Cashman: Jeff Weaver (Acquired July 2002 from Tigers) Weaver was 12-12 with a 5.35 ERA for the Yankees and blew Game 4 of the 2003 World Series, which turned...

Another Hitting Slump

Since Sunday, the Yankees' starting lineup has been awful. They have been hitting .177 since Sunday, when a "reincarnated" Oliver Perez blew them away. The Yankees are also averaging nearly a run per game. These long slumps have occured earlier this year and in the 1st half of last season, so it means it's been like this since the Yankees hired AAA hitting coach...

The Red Sox demolish the Yanks

So far, the Red Sox have beaten the Yankees by a combined score of 13-4. The Yankees were so beaten so badly, that you could have heard "Let's Go Red Sox" chants at the Stadium. The starts by Andy Pettitte and Darrell Rasner were awful. Bobby Abreu and Alex Rodriguez left the bases loaded and not driving key runs in. Derek Jeter is having his worst season, hitting around...

The Yankees need Ichiro to cheer up America

Let me do something that no other sports blog has done before. I am going to take a sports scenario and make it seems absolutely plausible and give some reasons why I feel it could and should happen.

Giambi's Mustache The Best?

When Frank Thomas was released by the Toronto Blue Jays earlier this season one couldn't help but wonder if Jason Giambi was far behind. At the time he was having quite the terrible season. For the month of April Giambi had a paltry .164 batting average and a slugging percentage of .411, or over .100 points below his career average. Well he's turned all that around and...

Two Nights in Section 39: The Good, The Bad, and The Fascist

On Monday and Tuesday, I sat in Section 39 of the right field bleachers for the first two games of the Yankees-Rangers series. For the past 6 years or so, my attendance of Yankees games has almost exclusively been in the bleachers. My reasons for this has varied over time. When I was in high school, it was the sheer love of zaniness at the ridiculous and sophomoric chants of the...

Mike Timlin to be activated from the DL

Mike Timlin is going to join the team at Yankee Stadium today and be activated off the disabled-list. Timlin rocked a 7.06 ERA in 21.2 innings pitched so far this year until he was shelved with tendinitis in his knee on June 17th. Chris Smith is the odd man out and will be sent back to Pawtucket to make room for Mike.

Just Like A Prayer, You Know I'll Take You There: A-Rod and Jose Similarities?

Alex Rodriguez and Jose Canseco are two men who differ in many ways. One is at the height of his playing career, while the other is broke and embroiled in a post-career controversy. One is a Hall of Fame bound superstar, while the other is struggling to stay on reality tv. One plays for the Yankees, while the other last played for the Long Beach Armada. However, with all of these...
