by allowing 3 runs in the top of the 9th blowing a 1-0 lead. The loss drops the 6th place Pirates to 14-21 .400 -7.5 and continues the Bucs 2 game losing streak. Right now the current Pirates game is in a rain delay after the Pirates scored to take the lead in the 2nd. Back to last night. The Pirates have dropped 8 of their last 10 games as the funk continues. Lets hope tonight the rain lets up and they can turn it around.
The Lumber Company could only muster one run last night on 7 hits with the leaders being;
McLouth scoring the only run,
Monroe and Diaz with 2 hits,
Monroe with the RBI,
McLouth and Morgan with SBs.
In the field the Pirates had no errors with a DP and a pickoff by Maholm. :)
On the mound the staff did very good except for the Mad Capper. The starter Maholm threw a great game for 7 innings allowing 0 runs on 5 hits with a walk and 4 Ks. He was followed by Yates who gave up 2 hits in 0.2 of a inning. Next was Grabow who got his only batter out. Then came the fateful ninth when Matt Capps 0-3 8.18 came in and had his second blown save when he threw a inning getting shelled for 3 runs on 5 hits (1 HR). This was a heartbreaking loss. When the pitching does this well its nice to get the win.
