Bugs & Cranks:
In the last three years, Posada's batting average on balls in play (BABIP) has been .312, .294., and .302. This year? .406. So basically every time he hits the ball in fair territory, he's channeling the ghost of Ted Williams. Can he keep hitting .340?

Those are some impressive numbers. And considering he's also a damn good catcher, he might be the most underrated member of that team.

Can he keep up the average? As much as it would be cool to see (I am a Posada fan), he is a catcher. Daily abuse will halt the great numbers.

The Week I Loved The Yankees
As many of you know, I'm a huge New York Met's fan. This week though, as a Fantasy Owner, I hate to say it, but I Loved the New York Yankees. It really has been an amazing week for them. Since last Saturday, the Yankees have put up 71 runs, averaging 10+ runs a game. That, to me is amazing.
Yankees Layoff Lefty Myers
The 38-year old side winder is in the final year of a two-year $2.4 million contract. He appeared in 55 games this year and had a bullpen best ERA of 2.66, but because lefties are hitting .312 off him this season and he is supposedly the lefty specialist he was let go.
Myers' replacement wasn't immediately announced but according to Newsday Jim Brower, who played last...
Bartolo Colon might not pitch again this year
"With his recovery from elbow irritation progressing at a glacial pace, Bartolo Colon acknowledged Friday that he has never pitched at full strength this season and that he might not play again for the Angels in 2007."
That's a blow for the Angels if Colon can't come back to the rotation this year.
As Steinbrenner's Health and Energy Fade, Does it Make Sense to Sell the Yankees?
We've heard speculation for the past year that the health of New York Yankees Owner George Steinbrenner is deteriorating. His public appearances have been infrequent and the once boisterous man known simply as "The Boss" is rarely heard from.
Interesting article in the upcoming issue of Conde Nast Portfolio, which hits newsstands on August 15th. The article describes...
A-Rod hits 500
Alex Rodriguez hit 500…finally! Rodriguez added another chapter to his season long assault of the record books clubbing his 500th career homerun to become the youngest Major Leaguer to achieve the feat. Becoming the 22nd member to join the exclusive 500 homerun club at age 32 years and 8 days, A-Rod passed the previous record holder, Jimmie Foxx, by accomplishing the feat some 330 days earlier.
Mike Myers DFA?
Reports are circulating that Yankees lefty specialist Mike Myers will be designated for assignment today, and that he'll be replaced by a veteran right-hander from Triple A. Huh?
Watch out for the Rats at Angels games
Looks like the Angels have a small problem on their hands...
The refuse can sit out for more than 12 hours before it is collected, a time lag that may help account for the 118 vermin violations that county officials logged at stadium kiosks and restaurants over the last 2 ½ years.
Of those reports, 33 represent "major" violations, in which "rodent activity"...
Rocket To Blame For His Walk Of Shame
Roger Clemens doesn't need the money, only apparently the gratification that he is still worth a lot of it. Having won two rings in his previous incarnation in The Bronx, he doesn't require another, nor more wins or strikeouts to bolster arguments that he is the best pitcher ever. That case was made years before one more return seemed like a good idea.
Nevertheless, two...
Projecting who will give up A-Rod's 800th homerun

Just How Much is A-Rod's 500th Home Run Ball Worth?
The baseball Alex Rodriguez hit for his 500th home run may be worth as much as $100,000. Rodriguez is the youngest player to ever reach this milestone, and is a certain future Hall of Famer. The Yankees media relations director so far has been unsuccessful in his negotiations to get the ball back for Alex. His first offer included memorabilia from high-profile Yankees.
