Phils tried to make a huge comeback over the Mets last night, but failed and came up just short (that's what she said). The comeback attempt was entertaining, but in the end it's still a loss and therefore doesn't really matter then.
Adam Eaton was the main culprit for the loss. Stats since joining the Phils- 38 games started, 13-17 record, 262 IP, 309 H, 171 ER, 43 HR, 111 BB, 149 K, and a 5.87 era. Yuck!

You know, I've had it with Eaton! You can't count on him to throw a strike! He personally dug a hole so deep; there was no way the Phils could climb out of it! Cant' the Phils just cut him??? Bring up one of the young guys from the minors; they could not do any worse!!!! Any time I start to think the Phils can count on him he crashes. He has got to be the most overpaid pitcher in baseball!!!
-
He's not the most overpaid, Barry Zito or Carl Pavano probably hold that infamous title, but he's pretty damn bad nonetheless.
-
He can't blame the offense for this one. And what's up with the safe call with Utley's tag at second? BULLSHIT!!! That stuff pisses me off.

Wonder what the Cardinals will to do us this time around?

Shades Of ‘86
My apologies for getting all misty eyed at the news Keith Hernandez being involved in some recent midair Mets hijinx. Now if only in the next week I would hear reports of a coked up Wally Backman stumbling out of a bathroom or Rafael Santana falling asleep with his dick out of his pants….
Utley, Lidge Named To All Star Team
Phillies' second baseman Chase Utley has been named to his third straight all-star team, while closer Brad Lidge has been named to his second, as the lone two Phillies name to the squad this year. Utley is this year's top vote getter in the National League, the first Phillies to do so since fan voting began in 1970.

Mets sign prospect Benjamin Mark!!!
I can not believe this, at one point a top prospect, Ben Mark has been signed by the mets and is going to the AA Bingamton and will probably be down there for a couple years. He tore up his elbow in his senior year of high school, so teams have been suspect to sign him but since the mets are from New York and have money coming out the you know where they took a chance. At his best...
Theo Epstein, Omar Minaya: No Interest in Bonds
After speculation in print that the Red Sox had expressed interest in Barry Bonds,GM Theo Epstein wasted no time shooting down that rumor. He said there was nothing to the speculation. Bonds agent, Jeff Borris released a statement saying there had been no contact from anyone within the Mets organization pertaining to his client, Bonds. Minaya stopped short of saying there was...
Lidge gets extension; Utley enters home-run derby
"Lights Out" Lidge is locked up for another 3 years. The Phillies signed him to a 3-year $37.5 million extension. 19 saves and a 1.00 ERA in half a season will get you a nice pay day.
Sunday chat: Phillies seek revenge this afternoon
Kyle Kendrick (8-3, 4.58) toes the rubber when the Phils try to put yesterday's bullpen meltdown behind them against Oliver Perez (6-5, 4.98) and the Mets. First pitch is 1:35. After holding the Mets scoreless through 4 1-3 frames in Friday's tight win, the Phils 'pen imploded for six earned runs in 2 1-3 innings in last night's 9-4 loss. Main offenders: J.C. Romero...
Game chat: Phillies try to solve Mets' Maine
Right-hander John Maine (8-6, 3.86) is 4-0 with a 2.05 ERA in seven starts against the Phillies, and is 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA in two starts Citizens Bank Park. The Phils hope for better luck and try to make it five in a row when Jamie Moyer (7-6, 4.13) takes the mound tonight. First pitch is 7:05. The Phils hold a 3.5 game edge over Florida in the National League East and are 5.5 up on the Mets.
Panic! at the Brick Cit House
Time to panic. Enough with this "but we're still in 1st place" bullship. The Phils haven't played well for a month and the team is falling apart. The offense sucks, flat out can't hit anymore. I understand not lighting up the scoreboard every game, but they've really been struggling with consistency this year.
For a full breakdown of the Phils woes...
No Church On Sunday....
What? No Church on Sunday, or any other day? Of course, I'm talking about the Mets' Ryan Church, and why the Mets ought to consider sitting him down in his own pew...
Phillies Shopping for a Starter
CC Sabathia must fall asleep with a smile on his face because every day he wakes up and another team has declared an interest in acquiring him. The latest to enter the Sabathia sweepstakes is the Phillies. They've also expressed an interest in Mariners lefthander Erik Bedard, who is 5-4 with a 3.79 ERA. The Phillies have some young talent they would part with for a quality starter.
Where are all the Mets detractors now?
For weeks and weeks I've been reading newspaper articles, blogs, forums and all that jazz clamoring for the Mets to make a move, fire people, spark a fire sale and the like.
Now that the Mets have gone on to win four in a row and pull within 1.5 games of first place, that seems to have died down significantly, which makes sense. But where is the praise for this team?
J-Roll, Phillies 'in the flow' at Turner Field
In a carbon copy of Tuesday night and their previous series in Atlanta, the Phillies received good pitching and late insurance runs in a 7-3 win over the Braves. It marks their first series win since June 7. Call it a marginally better performance than the night before, give or take a few miscues, give or take Atlanta's so-so pitching staff. The Phils got a hit in every inning...
Pedro
Pedro Martinez isn't the Mets' ace, anymore. That title, for the foreseeable future, belongs to Johan Santana, although an old friend is making waves across town. But he can pitch like it tonight.Pedro was really only the Mets' ace for that woefully underrated 2005 season, where he wowed stat folks (a ridiculous .949 WHIP) and goofy old traditionalists (4 complete games...
Is This Some Kind Of Sick Joke?
Mark Mulder is starting against the Phillies on Wednesday. The $14 million bust that has recorded exactly four outs this season will be going up against the most dangerous lineup in the National League. They have the most homeruns in the NL against left handed pitching and they play in a bandbox of [...]
