Patriots Nation:
Get ready for the second coming of Kaz Matsui. Kaz Matsui? Yeah, the guy the Mets blew $20 million for a 3 yr deal on but then eventually dumped because they were so sick of his futility. Knowing his production, even Richard Prior in Brewster's Millions would not have paid that contract. So before you bust out some tiny purple pills to deal with that uneasy feeling you get when you hear his name, you might want to recognize that this could be a nice little opportunity for your MLB fantasy league.
Recognizing that one team's trash just might be another's treasure, the Rockies signed Kaz Matsui to a one year deal. The Colorado air can perform alchemy on a players career (See Dante Bichette, Vinny Castilla, etc.) and Rockies management thinks they can do it again with Matsui. During his stint with the Rockies, Matsui batted .345 with 19 RBI in 32 games. During those 32 games he batted .281 on the road and had 11 RBI away from Coors. May be he actually learned something while in the minors.

Last year for the Mets and Diamondbacks he was 11-11 with a 4.66 ERA, though he...
Steve Trachsel Hits Rock Bottom
It appears Steve Trachsel's marital problems may have forced his leave from the team on October 1st. When he returned after 12 days between starts, he was shelled against the Dodgers in the NLDS and then the Cardinals in the NLCS. Due to his performance in the playoffs, the Mets are not likely to re-sign him. Sarah, his wife, filed for divorce on Thursday.

Now You Can Earn "Thank You" Points at Mets Games
Okay, maybe not, but when the Mets move into their new stadium, it won't be called Shea or anything like it. It'll be CitiField instead. No fan likes when their team gives up a name that's synonymous with the franchise, especially when its a corporate behemoth like Citibank. Money talks...

One of the rules Brewster had to abide by was that he couldn't give his money away to charity...like the Mets did with Kaz.
