Kazmir Knocks Victor Zambrano out of D-Rays Record Books

To quote the sarcastic Devil Rays broadcaster, "There's probably a Mets fan in Florida who again needs to be reminded of that trade."

Scott Kazmir's 373 career strikeout makes him the most prolific pitcher in terms of K's in Tampa Bay history. Ironically, he passes Victor Zambrano, the man he was traded for to take over the franchise record.

Kazmir struck out Gerald Laird to end the second inning. Through two against the Rangers, he has 3 K's while allowing only a Mark Teixiera walk.

	And when the Devil Rays aren't opening the record books for Kazmir, they're playing terrible defense behind him. The Rangers just scored three runs on an error and two additional plays that quality MLB defenders not named Russel Branyan or Timo Perez would have made. Timo just tried to shovel pass a ball about 45 feet to first that Olympic sprinter Mark Teixiera easily beat out for an infield single and RBI. Kazmir looked extremely happy to see that one go down. It makes you wonder how many more K's Kazmir would have on the year if he didn't have to pitch a 6 out inning every start, which elevates pitch counts and makes it difficult to go past the fifth inning. Stressful innings like these also increase the chances of injury. All this without BJ Upton even in the game. Nice D, Devil Rays.
