Recently DFA'd LaTroy Hawkins has been traded to the Houston Astros for Matt Cusick. Cusick is a 22 year old second baseman currently in A-ball. I don't know what level he will play at for the Yankees, but here is some background info on him: He was a tenth-round pick out USC in 2007. While at USC, he had an OPS over .800 all three years he played there, including a .970 OPS his second year. Last year he had an .807 OPS in 92 games at Low-A. So far in High-A this year, he has an .832 OPS.

Hilarious find by Sports Crack today. Jason Giambi was batting in the bottom of the sixth inning against the O's last night when Brian Roberts decided to change up the standard shift on the lefty. Instead of standing in the deep infield and moving toward first, B-Rob decided to play almost all the way in the outfield (ala a short fielder in Softball). It almost worked too...

The new Yankee stadium looks almost complete in this view of the new and old stadiums from the direcTV.
There are 55 photos in all different angles and stages of construction. Pretty sharp. But, it will still be a sad day in baseball history to see the old Yankee Stadium taken down.

yanks should of picked up pitching... joba cant get it done all alone, i still dont trust mussina, or pettite, they need to just stop trying to pick up 90s all stars, it pisses me off! do they not like young talent? i dont look at stats much but im pretty sure they are probably dead last in steals. i keep hearing how they have a nice farm system, but i guess we will never find out...

Am I the only one that thinks the Houston Astros shouldn't be buyers so close to the trading deadline this season? The club has struggled all season with pitching and inconsistent offense, not to mention they sit 12 and 1/2 games out of first place in the National League Central.

Yankee Stadium or "the house that Ruth built" is a baseball and sports icon. Many great games and events have been played on that hallowed ground. The Yankees found the need to replace Jorge Posada on Wednesday.....they successfully accomplished this goal by trading for Ivan Rodriguez. In return The Tigers got Kyle Farnsworth. They really needed someone in the bullpen due to recent struggles late in games. Both teams are still in the AL Race and coming ...

I don't have a link yet, but i just saw this on ESPNEWS. According to Buster Olney, the Yankees have traded Kyle Farnsworth to the Tigers for Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez. I like this trade for the Yankees. Farnsworth is average at best, and the Yankees have guys in the minors who could easily replace him. Pudge has an OPS+ of 101 this year, so he's about a league average pitcher, which...
