With Griffey on the verge of 600 homers, once a legendary landmark, we look at the losers of the steroids era...and a couple winners.

How can anyone be sure who did and who didn't take steroids? You can't look at a player and immediately say he is on steroids or say he isn't on steroids. Look at reliever Jason Grimsley, he isn't big and yet he admits he took steroids. Let's not clear anyone until we have proof. And don't convict anyone without proof.

Raise Your Hand If You Own This Card
My guess is that 85% of the people in The Yard have at least one '89 Upper Deck Griffey rookie card. I collected 4, marking both the apex and the beginning of the end of my passion for baseball cards. Not long after that, I started collecting stamps.
Matt Kemp Suspended 4 Games For Being Awesome
The Los Angeles Times reports that Matt Kemp has been suspended 4 games for "inciting" the fight in Tuesday's game.
"Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp has been suspended for four games and fined an undisclosed amount for his part in a bench-clearing brawl in the eighth inning of Tuesday's game against the Colorado Rockies at Dodger Stadium.

King Cole Owns, J-Roll Benched, and Phils First Round Pick
Cole Hamels three-hits the Reds. Ken Griffey Jr. is stuck at 599. Jimmy Rollins gets yanked. And the Philadelphia Phillies select a high school shortstop with the 24th pick.
Ryan Freel Is Durable
Another day, another injury for the Reds.

2008 1st Round Pick: Yonder Alonso
He is probably the last player I expected the Reds to draft with Gordon Beckham, and Aaron Crow still left to be drafted. Alonso is a slow, nonathletic 1st baseman that plays average defense at best. He has a strong bat with above average power for 1st basemen, average arm, and he's one of the more polished hitters in the draft.

It's Patterson, Sadly
I guess a while is 5 games in Reds land. I don't care if Patterson is just back because of the injury, the fact is Dusty will find thousands of ways to get him at-bats, play him over Bruce when there is a tough righty or something, and continued...
Ken Griffey Jr: The Quiet March to 600
The memories gained from baseball are many. Whether sitting back with a beer in front of a TV or driving to the ball park on a sunny afternoon and relaxing beside a ranting fan and a hot dog, America's sport is as gratifying as it gets.

Holliday Rumors Not Going Away
While the Indians continue to search for hitting, Matt Holliday's name continues to come up in trade talks.
King Cole dominates while J-Roll gets benched
The Phillies finished off their series with the Reds by winning 5-0 behind a stellar performance by Cole Hamels. Hamels threw his second shut-out of the season, clearly bouncing back from getting shelled by the Marlins last week.
3 Up:
1. King Cole dominates: Cole Hamels was the story of the game as he completely shut down the Reds offense. Hamels needed 103 pitches to get...
Great Reds Draft News
On John Fay's blog today there is a post about the draft, and I must say I'm extremely happy with most of its content.
"I can give you a list of three or four guys," scouting director Chris Buckley said. "But, at 7, you don't know if they're going to be there."
The 4 players that Fay list are Brian Matusz, Buster Posey, Gordon Beckham...
Home Cook-ing In Coors
This week I’ve been playing around with some pitching stats and this just blew me away: Rockies RHP Aaron Cook has an ERA/WHIP/BAA of 4.26/1.56/.297 on the road… but 2.33/.88/.215 at home! That defies all conventional logic with Coors being on of the biggest hitter-friendly parks in Major League Baseball.
So for Cook, he is [...]
Duel! Volquez outpitches Myers to lead Reds over Phillies
The Phillies wasted an amazing outing by Brett Myers, who held the Reds hitless through 6 and 2/3rds innings, and fell to Cincinnati 2-0. Reds starting pitcher Edinson Volquez was the story of Wednesday night's game.
3 Up:
1. Volquez dominates When an opposing pitcher is this good, he gets top billing. Edinson Volquez has taken the league by storm this season and the Phillies...
Ace Adam Eaton pitches Phillies past Reds
3 up and 3 down from another Phils win:
3 Up:
1. Eaton's on a roll! Meet your new ace of the Phillies, Adam Eaton.
2. Burrell supplies the offense: Pat Burrell had the big hit on the night, a two-run blast in the 6th inning that proved to be the game winner.
3. The bullpen holds another lead: If Chase Utley is the team MVP then the bullpen has to be a close second...
Manuel Sends the MVP a Message
It takes some gusto — to put it kindly — to bench the reigning NL MVP. Manuel is way down on the list of managers most likely to be a disciplinarian with one of the team's most vital players, but as Philadelphia radio personality Howard Eskin learned last year, Manuel can "get angry."
Chris Dickerson To Majors? Don't Expect It
When seeing that Chris Dickerson was pulled from the Louisville Bats game last night in the 4th I got a little excited, and it made me wonder if he might be getting called up to replace Ryan Freel. Unlike the Paul Janish
