Mark Teixeira Doesn't Care About the Baltimore Orioles

He said that with the Texas Rangers, he said it with the Atlanta Braves, and he's saying it as a member of the Los Angeles Angels. Teixeira is a human magnet for being traded to good teams, so you figure he's not going to let free agency do his legacy dirty.

How about these quotes, all from Teixeira from the past couple years. I'm not sure how one quote giving the static "team first" answer, says he is not interested in the Orioles. Judging by your logic, I guess he isn't interested in any team, except for the Angels?

When asked about the possibility of playing for the Orioles: "That would really be a dream come true."

Another Teixeira quote: "In a year and a half, we'll have some fun conversations. Baltimore, obviously in the future, is a place I'd love to look at."

From a Jon Heyman SI.com article: "The Orioles are close to my heart,'' Teixeira admitted.

And Teixeira had positive comments with Thorne that Thorne commented on during the broadcast of game the other day.

Oh the other thing...

He can't come out and say he wants to play for the Orioles, that's called tampering. But this is another quote from the article that you reference:

"It's always something that would be very special to me," Teixeira (Mount St.Joseph) said yesterday. "But like I said, in a couple months, when the season's over, I'll sit down and make those decisions."

I guess I just don't understand how you arrived at your conclusion.

You use one quote of him talking about focusing on this season's stretch run to assume that he has no interest in playing for the Orioles? What do you expect him to say, "I don't really care about the possibility of winning the World Series with the Angels this year. All I can think about is Baltimore?" To analyze this quote as him not being interested in Baltimore is flat out wrong.

Hatepaste already did the work supplying numerous quotes. Is it a sure thing that Teixeira signs with the Orioles? Not at all. Angelos will have to open up the checkbook in a big way, but I think the Orioles definitely have a fair chance of bringing Teixeira to Baltimore.
