The body paint delivers the karma

The Phillies fan in body paint certainly delivered some karma to the Phillies (and the Eagles to boot). Let's re-cap:-- Phillies win Game 3 after Jamie Moyer pitched a gem, 3 HRs get the job done, and Phillies get the final run to seal the deal in the bottom of the 9th thanks to a player hit by a pitch, an arrant throw allowed him to get from 1st to 3rd, and Ruiz was able to...

An actual Phillies article...

Let's Go Phils! We all know what happened last night: Utley got an early home run, we jumped out to a 2-0 lead, Cole pitched a gem, we handed it over to our bullpen in the 8th, they got the job done, and the Phillies take Game 1. It had us on the edge of our seat for 9 innings and we should consider ourselves lucky considering the amount of runners that were left on base.Tonight...

Rumor: Mets will look at Orlando Hudson for 2B ??

According to Joey DeMayo of Mike Silva's New York Baseball Digest. The Mets will make a push for 2B Orlando Hudson and look to put Daniel Murphy in LF (even though he is playing some 2B in the AFL). Through Joe's source Minaya's thinking is he will use Murphy in a platoon with somebody like Nick Evans or a possible free agent like Minaya favorite Juan Rivera and put...

Luis Aguayo is No Longer My Homeboy

Sadly, the New York Mets announced today that third base coach Luis Aguayo would be reassigned within the organization (whatever that means) and would no longer be the team's third base coach. I quickly grew fond of Aguayo simply because of his dynamite ability to relay signs (Mets fans know what I'm talking about) and his penchant to viciously wheel runners in from third...

Here is the Q & A transcript of an interview I conducted with Mets rookie Bobby Parnell at Turner Field in Atlanta in late September. Parnell is now pitching for the Peoria Saguaros of the Arizona Fall League …

Mets Rumors: Mets to Pursue Derek Lowe and Brian Fuentes

Joel Sherman of the NY Post writes: "The Mets plan on targeting Derek Lowe and Brian Fuentes in the free agent market, an NL executive who has talked to team officials told the Post. The Mets are promising to be creative and explore many avenues. But Lowe (a dependable innings eater) and Fuentes (a proven closer) fit the Mets' top two needs, and are going to be pursued...

Fire Up That Hot Stove Baby!

Out of any writer in the Miami Herald, Barry Jackson seems to get the most juicy information on a weekly basis. Looking past the fact that Antoine Walker spent $6500 bucks on champagne and Patron at club BED in Miami, Barry brings us some good info this morning regarding potential trades going down for the Marlins. First off it looks like the Marlins are looking to increase payroll...

Late heroics give Phillies 2-1 World Series lead

Hope you stayed up for this one! After blowing a 3-run lead earlier in the game, the Phillies fought back in the bottom of the 9th and, at about 1:49 AM, scored the game-winning run to come away with a 5-4 victory and a 2-1 series lead. There was no individual hero in the 9th, although some credit has to go to Eric Bruntlett. Bruntlett led off the inning, got hit by a pitch and then...

World Series Diary: Game 3, Phillies-Rays

Small moments from what was going on during my NBA fantasy league draft prep (what, you think I'm going all hardcore in my bandwagon fan ways?)...> As the Rays are announced, the Phillies played some odd children's novelty song about fish. I have no idea why. > The game starts an hour and a half late, just so I don't have to miss anything from putting my kids to...

Is Castillo at the point of no return....

Is there any chance Luis Castillo can rebound as a Met from his horrible year in 2008. Many Mets fans were incensed by Castillo contract prior to the start of the season, then Castillo had an awful year and it became hard for him to even take the field. Now most Mets fans want him gone no matter what it takes for that to happen.... Eric Simon of Amazin Ave. in a great post disputes...

Kunz struggles again in the All-Star game....

The Arizona Fall league held it's All-Star game tonight and the Mets were represented by three players on the American Rising star team. 2B Dan Murphy, C Josh Thole and RHP Eddie Kunz all participated in the game. Murph was the DH and only had one at bat in which he walked. Thole didn't start the game but took over as catcher, Thole walked in his first at bat and had an RBI...
