If you want to get sick, take a look at the Mets vs the Phillies in 2008. Even though the Mets own a 9-5 record against them they still manage to do some damage against us. I highlighted the players who have ERA over 4.00 against the Phillies and guess what?, It's most of our bullpen.....

DELGADO: 11 TIMES 30, JOINS 12 OTHERS

The Mets placed Ramon Castro on the 15 day DL with a right Quad strain and recalled Robinson Cancel. I know Castro is a rare power threat catcher but he just proves every season he can't stay healthy and the Mets should really consider whether they should re-sign him. Cancel hit .233 in 30 ABs as the third catcher, he can also play 1B and LF if necessary for a big man he is actually...

I know I'm a little late in responding to Jimmy Rollins' statements, but I was too wrapped up in the Olympics to notice at the time.
For those of you that don't know, Rollins went on "The Best Damn Sports Show" and claimed that Philly fans are "front-runners."

With the news that Kevin Duckworth has passed away at the young age of 44, I happened to think of when his name found its way into the Mitchell Report. There was a cashed check that Duckworth made out to former New York Mets clubhouse guy Kirk Radomski, but Duckworth himself was never implicated...probably because he was a former NBA player and had nothing to do with baseball. One of the ways to judge the effectiveness of a manager is to see if he puts his players in a position to succeed. Reliever Scott Schoeneweis is murder against lefty batters but can't get out righty batters. A good manager would put Schoeneweis in the game against a lefty batter that his manager won't pitch hit for in a crucial situation.

In Jerry Manuel's brief two-month tenure as Mets manager, he lost his closer (Billy Wagner), two starters (John Maine), second baseman (Luis Castillo) and a pinch hitter/utility man (Marlon Anderson).

I think I'm taking the 2008 Cubs for granted. I headed to my car for my commute home last night just as the Phillies were scoring three runs in the sixth. And even with Cole Hamels carving up the lineup, I never thought we were out of it. I tuned into XM radio by that point and it had Pat and Ron going and Pat was carrying on that the Phils bullpen has been worked hard lately...
