Only a day into spring training and the New York Mets are already in trouble with the commissioner's office. So what did the Mets do? They violated MLB rules on how many "regular" players must attend road spring training games. They brought only 1 regular to their game vs the Detroit Tigers. What makes this violation worse is JUST the day before, MLB executive VP Jimmie Lee Solomon sent a memo out reminding all teams of the policy.

Santana Tagged Up!

Wins and losses don't matter in Grapefruit League play, but someone really should tell Johan Santana not to give up home runs to retired senior citizens. It's just not a good business practice.

Duaner Down, But Not Out

"Sometimes you're a little sore or whatever," [Willie] Randolph said. "It's early in the spring. Just pushed back a day. He'll be ready to go tomorrow. … It's nothing to be concerned about. Sometimes guys, day-to-day, are a little sore. It could be anywhere on their body. And that's what he said he was, so he's pushed back a day. Don't...

Leyland sets Tigers rotation for season.

The Detroit Tigers are ahead of the ball as manager Jim Leyland announced his starting rotation. Opening day without a doubt is Justin Verlander with Jeremy Bonderman starting in game two. The surprise comes after that, many would think newly acquired Dontrelle Willis would follow as the teams #3 starter. NOPE!

Are You Ready For Some Grapefruit?

Yesterday the team played an exhibition game against the Michigan Wolverines. The outcome of the game - a 4-4 tie - is of little consequence (most of the regulars who participated came out in the early innings), however, of more interest to fans is the way the Mets led off the bottom of the 1st inning. Jose Reyes legged out an easy double before advancing to third on an out. David...

Today in the Daily News, John Harper decides to jinx one of the Mets' nice young arms, writing that in 6?5? reliever Eddie Kunz, the Mets believe they have a candidate to pursue the trail blazed by Joba Chamberlain in the Bronx last season, rocketing from A-ball to become a dominant major league reliever in his first pro season.

Spring Pressure?

Is there such a thing as a "must win" in spring training? After the Mets got pounded 7-0 by the Juan-gone juiced(?) Cardinals yesterday and with organizational savior Johan Santana making his Mets debut on the hill, the argument could be made that this is in fact, a must win for the Metropolitans.

David Is "Wright" On Milledge

Lastings Milledge never felt as though he fit in, in the Mets clubhouse and was made to be the outcast of the team. Earlier this week, while speaking with John Donovan of SI.com, Milledge vented. I guess Milledge was not hoping to reconcile with his former 'mates. Mets third baseman David Wright took exception to Lastings comments. The most infamous of the events that Milledge...

Hope Springs Internally

...the winter seems to have lasted forever around here in the NY/LI area. In fact, we just received our first serious snowfall of the season 3 days ago. This past winter's weather has closely followed the outlook of the diehard Mets fan; cold, bleak and unforgiving.

Inside The Mind of a Mets Fan

I'm sure this post will bring in a lot of flack from Phillies fans and fans of other NL East teams, but I'm not concerned. I'm confident there are "decent typing" fans out there who can tell the difference between a direct insult and a generalization (which is what I'm doing here). So what might be on the mind of Mets fans going into the 2008 Season? After...
